It's only been a few days since K'zin was sent to the infirmary and didn't show up for drills. The rumor's gotten around that he went in and NEVER CAME OUT! Swallowed whole, by some accounts. Others just point out that K'zin does seem to have a history with Madilla, so if his health were in question, there's no question that he would be able to skip back out to keep 'toughing it out'. It's evening and the infirmary is fairly quiet, so the tell-tale coughs coming from K'zin's alcove can be heard. Some of it sounds quite nasty, really. His throat must be raw from the sounds of things. The looks of things show him to have a little sweat on his forehead as he lays on one side, under the blankets provided him, a book open in front of him, though it looks as though he might not be really taking the information in from the way he just stares at the page full of words.

She leaves people mostly to their own devices - even friends - so a couple of days not seeing K'zin wasn't any biggie to Alida, the woman thinking it was likely some minor owie that kept him from drills. But after the third day, a quick word to Ilicaeth to speak with Rasavyth found out the real reason behind the disappearance of Waki (tm), and now leads to the blonde stepping into the infirmary...and donning a filtering mask after she speaks to the assistant on duty. Her steps are smooth and light as the bluie picks her way past others stuck in here due to illness or injury, and soon enough 'lida's stepping beside the cot with sickly K'zin on it, and noting in slightly muffled fashion, "You've looked better."

It's true that K'zin looks a little pale compared to his usual rich dusky tones, and his eyes are a little sluggish to pull away from their stare at the page. The book is closed by way of simply removing the finger wedged against the spine that had kept it from closing, and he shifts to lie on his back, which triggers a coughing fit that he hides beneath the blanket. "You could say that again and it would still be just as true." K'zin's answer comes quietly, his baritone huskier than usual with a raw rasp to it.

"As long as y'don't have the Plague 'r firehead 'r anything like that, it's all decent," Alida notes in quieter tones - given the need for such in here - the woman smirking beneath her mask at Waki's answer, then moving aside to nab a stool, and sit on it beside his bed. "Flu?" she inquires politely, then noting in practical fashion, "Y'need anything from yer' weyr, lemme' know." That book is peered at by intense green eyes for a moment, their focus then shifted back to the bronzer with a hint of concern. "Betcher' feelin' the pinch from not bein' able ta' talk much." Wink.

"Pneumonia, Madilla says." K'zin's answer is quiet though Alida earns a half-smile for some of her words. "She says I didn't come soon enough to rest up, but you know, I was wingseconding and Sh'mel..." He trails off. Does it need to be said that the wing would've been in trouble with ''only'' Sh'mel for any length of time? "Anyway, I'm resting now, like I'm told. Trying to get better. How're drills going? And stuff?" What stuff? Any stuff, probably. "Can't do much now, but I'll give a shout if I need something from up there. Thanks, 'lida. Things alright with you and 'caeth?" It has been a while since the pair has had a chance to catch up.

"Aww crap..." Alida mumbles to that diagnosis, the young woman shaking her head, then noting, "Bet Madilla's cluckin' over ya' like a mother hen." Only the slight squinching-up of her eyes and cheeks shows the bluerider's quick flash of a grin beneath her mask. "Yeah... 'n Sh'mel's not the best one in the position we've had," the blonde ripostes dryly. "Still, he's catchin' on, since you two helped him. Almost holdin' 'is own." A look around the cavern gives the weyrling the layout of the land, and she's soon peering back at Waki. "Drill's 'r the same. Breathin' fire on nearly everything. Was almost a close call in Cirrus, I heard on the grapevine, though. Nothin' turned out bad, though." Shrug. A quick and affirmative nod to the bedridden bronzer evolves into a, "Pretty much standard. Y'heard about Devaki gettin' booted up ta' Lord uv Reaches, right?"

It could just be the flush of fever, but K'zin's pale face starts to turn rosy, "I wouldn't say clucking." The words are a touch defensive. "Mads takes good care of me. Always has. Ever since Mave broke my nose when I was twelve." Maybe the lack of humor about Madilla is a symptom of the disease, too. After all, K'zin's usually the one cracking jokes, not quashing them. "We were just 'second. You were one. You know how it goes to support a 'leader." Though K'zin probably had more work cut out for him than 'lida. "I heard--" The bronze weyrling starts to answer on the far more relevant matter but just as he does, a healer sweeps into the alcove to check on him, ushering Alida out without allowing much time for anything other than a quick, "Later, 'lida!" From K'zin.

"Relax..." Alida murmurs with just a hint of eye rolling to K'zin when he gets defensive of Madilla, the bluie shaking her head a little. "Like I said, Waki..." the blonde notes to the bronzer, raising one of her brows on high at his response to word of 'seconds and 'leaders. Gheesh. And when she's finally about to experience *his* take on the whole Hold thing, she's being hurried out the proverbial door by staff. "I'm goin', I'm ''goin'''!" Yeesh! And out she does, with a left-behind, "We'll talk soon!" Via their dragons, of course.
