|log=In midafternoon day 8, month 1, while most of the candidates were busy at their chores, Isobel hurriedly packed up her things and left the candidate barracks, then got on a dragon and left the weyr altogether. There were hastily written notes left on a few pillows – Atreyan’s, of course, and Nakasha’s in the resident quarters, and one or two other candidates as well. From what anyone has been able to piece together, her mother has been taken gravely ill and Isobel was called home to help care for her.

Of course some people said she simply couldn’t take the heat of being under suspicion due to her family’s probable involvement in all the raiding troubles. And that maybe running off like that was an admission of guilt. Though her brother Atreyan stayed put…
