H'kon is not needed for this song; H'kon is posted outside, with an ear turned to catch the tune, and more importantly, anything that might interrupt it, that might signal his assistance is required. Even though the girl in there is a Big Girl now, and can go all by herself. Of course, these are H'kon's reasons. To anyone else... he's just spending his morning creeping outside the latrines, looking terribly serious.

Nothing about the latrines makes it an auspicious occasion, and Farideh certainly doesn't look anything other than distracted as she washes her hands and uses her wet fingers to brush fly-aways from her face. She dusts the rest off on her pants and makes for the door; the door at which H'kon lingers. Immediately, upon espying the brownrider, she glances back and forth, and before settling a concerned frown on the short man. Her voice is kept low when she steps outside of the latrines, crossing her arms over her chest. "You know it's not nice to ''listen''," and she sounds incensed that he ''might'' be doing just that.

H'kon starts to do with Farideh what he's been doing with anyone else who's come out during his vigil; diverts his eyes toward the ground, dipping his head lightly, trying on a smile that really just makes his face look awkward and faintly painful. But it only gets partway. "I'm not," with head rising back up, "listening for everything." That song has taken on a minor key, and the words that can be made out are about puppies, all alone. She knows her father is out there.

The laundress' face says she doesn't exactly believe him, though the strain about puppies gets a short backwards glance. "I ''hope'' you're just admiring her voice, because otherwise, someone should report you to Giorda for being--" Farideh searches for a word and fails. Her face screws up to convey her disgust at the idea.

Oh, why are the puppies so lonely? Why can't they just have a home? Why, why, why, why, whyyyyyy. H'kon's head tilts toward the repetition, then back to Farideh. "I do not make it a habit to wait outside the latrines for no particular purpose." It's said stiffly, though surely it's ''meant'' to put Farideh's mind at ease. The last 'why' has turned the sing into a non-verbal vocal exercise, up, and down, and up and down - but still definitely with the intent of singing.

"You ''say'' that," is full of continued disbelief, her arms tightening over her chest. That song, full of sad, lonely puppies isn't given another significant glance, and if she has any issues with the up-and-down vocal exercising, she doesn't specify. All of Farideh's attention is on the ''peeping Tom'', her lips compressed in displeasure. "So, then, why ''are'' you? Standing outside here? Listening?"

That singing breaks off for a moment, just in time with Farideh's question. H'kon's head turns, to look at the entrance, though he doesn't yet consider going in. A moment, two, and then it starts up again, this time about a very pretty necklace. The brownrider relaxes, and blinks back to his accuser, brow furrowed as he digs for that question again. "She's only four." It manages to sound chiding.

It takes a minute for the information to sink in, for the annoyance to morph into sheepishness when the reality hits home. "Oh." Simple, slightly apologetic, her stance relaxing somewhat even as she takes a half-step backwards. "Her." The singer. "Isn't four plenty old enough to be using the bathroom ''without'' someone lurking at the door?" But Farideh's twisting around to stare towards the latrines and presumably, as if she could see through walls, to the four turn old girl.

H'kon's furrowed brow doesn't really change, but his mouth takes a turn toward more grumpy. "No." It is certainly not old enough. Not when it's ''his'' daughter they're talking about. There's another break in the song, this one briefer, before it picks up again, morphing into one of the teaching songs, slowly. "And I am not lurking." Even with his arms crossing over his chest, all defensive-like.

"No? Are you going to walk her to and from the latrines when she's ''my'' age?" This when her gaze comes back around to the brownrider, forgetting the singing for now. Shifting on her feet, leaning a hip towards the tunnel leading past H'kon, Farideh stares at him distrustfully. "You are." Arguing with moody teenagers is ''fun''.

H'kon remembers himself, and lets his arms fall to his sides, tilts his head. "She is only four." It's firm but patient reptition. It's a dad voice. And it came from H'kon.

The dad voice is met with appropriate sulkiness. "So?" Farideh doesn't relent.

"So she is only four." The singing has stopped, and soon enough, that little, dark-haired, amber-eyed girl exits. "Did you wash your hands?" is clearly not directed to Farideh, and only after the nod does the girl get to take H'kon's. And ''stare'' at Farideh, with a little frown on her face. Does the brownrider seem pleased with this? Yes.

"So, there's plenty old enough to do her own--" But that full thought doesn't come to completion when the little girl exits the bathrooms, and ''her'' frown is returned with one from Farideh. "Fine." Everything's ''fine''. Flicking a glance back up at H'kon, she shrugs apathetically. "Suit yourself," before she's ambling away, down the tunnel.

"Hm," is not exactly a pleasantry, that H'kon sends after Farideh. Then he and Raija head on their way, as well. Only weird people wait outside latrines for no reason.
