 Day 16 was particularly grueling. Or maybe it only seemed that way to K'zin because he hadn't been sleeping well. It was funny, really. N'ky was the one who'd asked to be roommates because he'd thought he couldn't sleep without the snoring of others, and K'zin had shrugged it off, saying he was looking forward to the solitude. Now? It was too quiet. Even with Rasavyth not far away. He slept better when he left his bed and curled up in Rasavyth's couch but the bronze was starting to lose patience for him.

 Duties were as tough as usual, C'wlin continuing to ask for the best out of his wingriders and K'zin and Rasavyth continued to give it their all. After all, working hard made them look good, and made the other bronzers look good. And if the Silver Thread selections ''were'' politically motivated, then what was good for one bronze weyrling was good for them all, and if they ''all'' worked hard, harder than any of the chromatic riders, then who could fault them?
