The strike of the lower caverns comes to a quieter stop than it started. The afternoon of Day 9 of Month 4, the wings are ordered back to their regular duties and drills by the Acting Weyrleader. By that evening, it becomes clear that many of the higher ranked staff have been replaced completely, to include Headwoman Shevena as well as the Head Baker in the kitchens and the Head Gardener, Stablemaster, Head Laundress--. While most have been ousted by one of their previous assistants, it is Shevena's replacement that may come as a shock.

Erinta, the second cousin of Lord Holder Giarnon of Ruatha, has been appointed Headwoman of Fort Weyr, despite never having lived in a Weyr before. Surely Holders have some experience in the management of ''Holds'', but will that transfer to a place she has never been? And is this what X'vin and Lilah's visit to Ruatha was about?
