|log=It wasn’t long after the hatching at Igen that Vidar returned to Fort Weyr – primarily at the behest of the Healers there. Rumors hold that he was not permitted to Stand, but did end up seated as close to the Sands as was physically possible. At one point, he attempted to get on the Sands, but was restrained and, ultimately, quietly removed from the galleries for his own safety.

Shortly after his return, however, disaster struck: he was admitted to the Infirmary with shattered legs, a broken pelvis, several cracked ribs and no proper explanation of what had happened. In the end, it was determined that he’d fallen from a low ledge – though how he got there and why he fell are another matter entirely.

Unfortunately, he will not be able to offer answers of his own: on the 18th day of the 9th month in Turn 36, a Healer that’s particularly troubled by the lad’s suffering finally does what many feel should have been done from the start. A mercy draught is administered and Vidar is finally free to rejoin the dragon he’d lost.
