Keroonian bred assistant headwoman Jounine has been made the new Headwoman, while Giorda has opted to retire, though there is vast amounts of speculation as to what ''opted'' actually means. Opted. Forced. There are a lot of disgruntled people as the assistant with the least seniority and foreign bred at that, a fact that becomes known quite quickly in spite of the new Headwoman's six turns at High Reaches Weyr. The words favoritism and nepotism are quick to be thrown around, though there are the voices of reason that also note Jounine is the most palatable of the top contenders. For her part, Jounine is taking it all in stride and has taken control of the lower caverns with a swiftness that speaks of having been in the know far earlier than the actual exchange of knots.
