|log=Early in the evening, and being summer, early enough that it's still sunlight out. Everett and Serin are at
the bar. Which is to say, actually, Serin is at the bar, and Everett is behind it, in the manner of a man
who is working, although it must be said it isn't yet busy enough for him to be doing too much rushing. He's
just having a conversation with his fair-haired customer, all friendly smiles. "I always wanted to not work
in a mine," he says in response to a question. "Working in a bar just happens to be something I'm not bad
at... and it fits my preferred sleep schedule better than most of the alternatives."

"I didn't mean anything by it. Nothing wrong with working at a bar, I'm sure you get to see people at their
most.. interesting. You must have some good stories some days." Serin says, keeping his hand wrapped around
the glass which is half full of amber liquid. He's leaning a little on the bar, but not because he's drunk -
simply because it's comfortable. "And that it works with your sleep schedule is great, too. I found being up
nights wasn't really much for me." He admits, shifting on the stool again to find another comfortable
position.

L'sha drifts into the Snowasis and towards the bar, humming under his breath. He seems to be a regular here,
as a few patrons call out to him. He returns their greetings with grins and waves, then notices a couple of
people he doesn't recognize at the bar. He finds an open space near them and occupies it. He presents
Everett with a cheerful grin. "Hi there! You must be new here, since I know all the other bartenders." The
grin turns a bit sheepish. "Uh, I'm in here kind of a lot. I'm L'sha, green Rillaeth's."

"Morning person? I commend you. Not something I can manage. It's a success as far as I'm concerned if I can
get to sleep before sun-up." Everett is just being casually sociable, but that doesn't mean he's going to
shirk his duties, so it's an effortless shift in attention from Serin to L'sha when the greenrider comes up
to the bar: "I am indeed just getting started--good to meet you, L'sha. I'm Everett. What can I get you?
Beer, wine, liquor, something fruity? I'm as versatile as anybody else here, I hope, but if you know the
selection better than me, well, you might need a bit of patience if I have to root around to find it."

Perhaps L'sha isn't a celebrity, but there is enough notice to draw Serin's gaze to him and once it's there
he just watches the rider come to the bar with a quizzical look on his face. "That's.. interesting colors."
He comments when perhaps he likely shouldn't, and notes the name given. Returning his attention to Everett
to shake his head. "Not really that either, and as a Starsmith I've had to do some long nights too. I enjoy
my sleep a lot." He muses, taking another drink from his own glass as the rider chooses something for
himself.

L'sha leans an elbow on the bar. "Well, I have a regular drink, but you might not know it yet. Tell you
what, make something fruity, surprise me." He turns to Serin to say something, but hesitates briefly when he
meets the other man's eyes. "Uh, well, thank you!" He turns a bit left and right, showing off his jacket.
"My dragon picked them out, you know. She has a great eye for color. Sorry, didn't catch your name?"
There's a quick laugh. "No, unlike your dragon, I'm not up to reading your mind... and whatever you might
think, I don't see any book back here with everybody's usual written in it. Maybe they're hiding it from me,
but I'm having to learn as I go," says Everett. "But if you aren't picky, I can figure something out for a
nice summer night." Say, lime, mint, rum, surely those things are hanging around here at this time of year.
Green beverage for the greenrider. "Starsmith. Well, now, that would have been a good job for a night
person, too, but I'm afraid I was never much good at sums."

"You let your dragon dress you?" Serin asks L'sha incredulously, though the tone tapers off and he seems to
somehow come to some unspoken understanding. "Well, I guess she wants you to be noticed." He says with a
quick smile and a wink before answering, "Serin." and taking a drink from his cider that just about polishes
it off. "I -love- math, not so much the looking into the sky stuff. I mean, I'm alright at it and can point
out things, and it makes for a great if overused pick up line. Math isn't nearly as enticing." He admits,
but shrugs, "I have a little more freedom with my schedule because of it though."

L'sha waves a hand at Everett. "Don't worry about it, one of the other guys can show you how to make it. I'm
sure anything you make will be good." He watches Everett start to mix the ingredients with a look of
approval. He turns back to Serin with a smirk. "Well, she doesn't ''actually'' dress me, she just helped
pick out the colors. I didn't do it to get noticed, really, but sometimes the attention is nice. Pleased to
meet you, Serin." He returns the wink. "Math, huh? Never had much use for it beyond the basics, but I
imagine it's useful in the Starcraft. Rillaeth just ''loves'' looking at the stars." Talk about your dragon
much, L'sha?

"If you told me what it ''was''," Everett points out, drily, "that would be a very good start." But once
he's passed over the cocktail, he's got another order to take, which distracts his attention for a few
moments. More pouring, more mixing, this time less muddling but more shaking. Once that's attended to, he
offers to Serin, "A free schedule is enticing enough for most around here, seems like. Last night, got hit
on by two different women old enough to be my mother, was never so happy to have to work."

"I'm not completely daft, I know a dragon can't dress a person." Serin says with a snicker, shaking his
head. Glancing at L'sha from the corner of his eye, he finishes off his drink and nudges it away. "Well, we
know Rillaeth likes colourful things, and that she likes stars, but what do you like? Or are you secretly
Rillaeth in disguise?" He asks, turning more towards L'sha to make a show of looking over him to see if he
/could/ be a dragon in disguise, though the laugh afterwards shows that he isn't serious. "Ah.. I don't..
Well, nobody really hits on me when I'm doing math, so I guess I'm lucky that way? I'm sure you can get out
of awkward positions like that even without work. Just have to have some good lies lined up." He says with a
hint of amusement to Everett, and then asks, "Were they attractive at all? Oh, and can I get a refill?"

L'sha says, "It's kinda embarrassing. The name of the drink, that is. It's huge and blue with lots of fruit
and an umbrella in it." He smirks at Everett. "Welcome to the Weyr. Expect a lot more of that. Being hit on,
that is." He grins at Serin. "Do I look green to you? See any wings? What do I like?" He shrugs. "I'm not
too interesting, really. Flying, that's my favorite thing, I guess. What else? Hmmm. Well, I do like blue
eyes and long, blonde hair." He looks directly at Serin as he says that last, one eyebrow lifting up
slightly.

"Ah, one of those sorts of drinks." It's an indulgent sort of smile, but Everett does not press for more
details; he's absolved of serving now until someone finishes something, right? "I'd like to think I'm a
slightly better person than you seem to think I am, Serin," but there's amusement more than indignance. "Not
bad-looking, but I'd need to be drunker than I can get while working to think it seemed like a good idea."
On that note, however, the last bit of L'sha's statement sinks in, and he busies himself with attending to
another customer even before that customer's actually made up his mind.

Serin can't help but shrug a little at Everett, "Maybe you're a better person than I am, even." He admits,
as he /does/ tend to have lies lined up ready for use when he feels he needs them. "Ah well, too bad on
that. I'm sure you'll get more appropriate interest that you won't have to drown yourself in alcohol to be
happy with." He offers, though again, nudges his glass towards Everett before he wanders too far. Hint hint.
L'sha gets a shake of his head, no wings, no green, no dragon in front of him. "Now I'm curious about the
name of this drink. Surely they named it so it could be said in the bar." He presses, and rolls his eyes a
little at the last statement with a smirk. "Oh, do you? Perhaps I should set you up with my mother?" He
chides with a sly smile, well, the topic of women who could be mothers /was/ recent.

L'sha's mouth twists and his eyebrows furrow incredulously at Serin's response. "Uh, no thanks." He switches
topics back to drinks. "Well, I usually don't have to say it, I just show up and ask for my usual." He sighs
and rolls his eyes. "You're gonna make me say it, aren't you? Well, it's, uh, *mumble mumble*." He trails
off a bit, the last part inaudible over the din of the bar.

"Yet," Everett observes, "at some point you had to order it, out loud, enough times for it to become your
usual." A pause. "And loud enough for someone in my position to hear you. Anyway, I think he was talking
about me, but the answer is still a no-thanks. I think I'm supposed to kid about sleeping with your mother,
you're not supposed to offer, isn't that how it usually goes?" But he has gotten the hint and goes to refill
Serin's cider, once he's finished with the other customer.

Serin blinks at L'sha's reaction, pushing himself to his feet to encroach on the rider's personal space and
rest an arm on the greenrider's shoulder. "I was talking to L'sha." He answers, and then leans closer to
mutter though still able to be overheard, "If you give up /that/ easily, I'll be disappointed." Though he
snickers a little at Everett, "Hey, it could have been my mother who propositioned you the other night for
all I know. She isn't exactly the most.. ah.. chaste. My brothers and I all have different fathers, and
nobody knows who mine was." Really a child of the weyr, it seems, though once the drink is poured he's
reaching to pull it closer.

L'sha sighs again, a bit louder this time. "Oh, all right. It's the 'Sassy Bluerider.' There, happy now? The
personal space invasion makes L'sha blink as well, but he allows it, and grins slyly at what Serin mutters.
"Did I seem like I was giving up? You just threw me off a bit for a moment." He inches a bit closer to
Serin. "Hmm, sounds like the upbringing of most of the other weyrbrats I know."

At some point during this exchange, Everett does a bit of an eye roll. "A Sassy Bluerider? That's it? I
don't know it, but I was expecting worse. Well, next time you come in, I'll have gotten someone to show me."
Professional, of course, not remarking on the proximity of the two. Just: "Ah, well. Never did see any
reason why Holders insist on treating that sort of thing like it's unnatural. But. If you'll excuse me--
we're picking up a bit, and I'm supposed to have someone else coming in soon, but in the meantime I don't
think anybody's really going to be of a mind to wait." Work is indeed a magical excuse.

Serin can't help but laugh at the name of the drink. "Here I was expecting the Blueball or something,
perfect for after lost flights." Yeah, he really should install that brain to mouth filter sometime, but
that day isn't today. He shrugs a little, picking his drink off the counter to drink some before setting it
back down. He's removed his hand from L'sha's shoulder, but is still standing next to him. "People fear what
they don't know, or aren't used to or.. well, whatever. Don't work too hard, Everett, and be careful of
older blonde women hitting on you." He chides, and nudges L'sha a little. "I am a weyrbrat through and
through, even if I've been away for a while."

L'sha pulls his eyes away from Serin's for a moment to grin at Everett. "Thanks, you're a sweetie. Nice
meeting you!" He smirks at Serin. "I never lose a flight, honey. That's one of the great things about being
a greenrider." He chuckles. "Well, welcome back, Serin. Maybe I can give you a homecoming present?"

Though the evening, as the daylight finally starts to wane, is starting to get too busy to allow Everett a
proper response, there, he does at least raise a hand by way of acknowledging Serin's advice. Older blonde
women: Check. Hopefully it won't actually come to his interrogating anybody about the identities of their
children, but at this rate, he's not going to have enough down time tonight to actually have to think about
it.

"Great things about being a greenrider, huh. I think the riders of male dragons don't have it so bad either.
I mean, they /do/, but.. sometimes they win more than a green will rise." Serin says, turning so his back is
against the bar and giving his full attention to L'sha even though he still has his glass grasped in his
hand. "Depends on what sort of homewarming present you're offering. Going to give me a hint?" He asks, blue
eyes sparkling as he smirks, but it doesn't look like he's quite drunk yet.

L'sha nods. "Not if they win one of my flights, they don't." He moves to face Serin. "That would spoil the
surprise! But I can tell you that you'll have to come up to my weyr to see it." He finally gets around to
tasting the drink Everett made for him, with the rum, lime and mint. "Hmm, that's not bad."

"Has Rillaeth risen much? I mean, you don't look so old, she can't be very.. can she? You're not still a
weyrling are you?" Serin asks, finishing off his drink to leave the empty glass on the top of the bar. So
full of questions, he is, though he grins when L'sha tastes the drink that was made for him. "I guess you
should finish that off first, wouldn't want him to think you didn't like it." He is mindful for the poor new
bartender, who might be put off if the drink was left with the majority untouched. Propping his elbows on
the bar to relax against it, he considers. "Your weyr, hmm. It would keep me out of the clutches of my
mother for a while longer.."

L'sha chuckles. "Oh, no, we graduated four turns ago. She's risen about...fifteen times now? Give or take."
He takes a larger swig of the drink. "Well, I think I can offer something more than just a refuge from your
mother. C'mon, it'll be fun!"

"No hints, though?" Serin asks, glancing around the bar to make sure none of his family has snuck in, but so
far it seems safe still. So far, so good. "How high up is your weyr?" He wonders, could he have a fear of
heights? Hard to tell, as his voice doesn't really waver when he asks. "I'll give you a chance." He says
with a grin, tapping at that glass L'sha's holding. "Drink up so we can go."

L'sha shakes his head. "Surprise, remember?" He glances up at the ceiling for a moment. "It's about halfway
up the wall, about ten lengths. Not too high." He grins and drains the rest of the drink in one gulp, then
sets the empty glass on the bar with a half-mark. "Let's go, then!"

"Alright." Serin assents, pushing himself away from the bar to take a few steps towards the door. "It better
be a /good/ surprise." He has decided since it must be secret, that it also has to be good. He spins a
little to dart towards the door, holding it open for L'sha.
