"You said so yourself, I won't ever hold a Master's knot without formal training with the Hall, and we both know I'm too old for it. Most people my age would potentially have their journeyman's knot by now." Edyis hedges, "I will still work on a voluntary basis of course, purely for the love of the art at least once a seven."

"Do not expect me to give your knot back a second time." Master Jeroman huffs, sticking a hand into the pouch at his belt and flipping the mark in the direction of one of the senior apprentices.

Edyis blinks stunned watching the mark and the apprentice who catches it. The young man beaming with pride. "What! I bet you'd stick around the longest."

+It was not unusual for a Savannah rider to appear unexpectedly anymore, and was something Edyis was fairly used to.  What was unusual in this particular instance was that the note came not from R'hin, but one from one of the informants placed in Nabol.
