'''Bathing Pools, High Reaches Weyr

''Omnipresent clouds of steam slink across the tops of three naturally warm pools, set into the floor of this kidney-shaped cavern. Near the entrance the ceiling is high and polished, gleaming with little mineral specks as it sweeps downward into increasingly ragged, uneven steps. The foremost of the pools is squared off with wide steps leading down into the water and has faucets for bringing in cooler water from a rain-catching cistern. Primarily used for laundry, there's an almost constant film of suds along its surface until the circulating current clears it at the end of the day. Four sinks line the nearest wall and various tubs stored beneath allow for the washing of delicates. Laundry bags can be dropped off in the bins near the door and clean, folded laundry is stacked in rows of tall cubbies for easy pickup.

''The bend in the cavern leads to a rougher-hewn part of the chamber where the two circular bathing pools welcome those in need of a wash. Towels and washcloths are kept in neat stacks on shelves along the wall, along with sacks of sweetsand and a few bars of precious soap. Stone benches provide a place for sitting to remove shoes and clothing, while a row of gleaming brass hooks stand above, ready to hold clothes and robes.

When K'zin enters, he's dirty. One might wonder if he's ever clean, but if he's here, he's probably here to ''get'' clean. Over one shoulder is a sack that smells none too pleasing, a sack that has him stepping in the direction of the foremost pools, a ready smile for Busty Buxom Leita when a younger brunette steps into his path. The smile fades. "Farideh, hey."

“You should feel ashamed.” Narrowed eyes give him the faintest up-and-down glance, close in proximity as they are. Farideh doesn’t enlighten him as to what his shame should be over, but there are a few options. She takes her balled up fists off her hips and crosses them over her chest, wrinkling her nose in distaste as she has to look up at the dragonrider. “Go ahead. Apologize.”

K'zin is a different kind of dirty today. Today, there's no smoke, but instead he bears evidence of long-dried blood, the brownish red still made glossy by the oil that is smattered here and there. He also has a little bit of a shadow under his eyes, sleepless nights in evidence. His brows lift, forehead wrinkling, his look dubious. "For what?" At least this time he asks.

“For starting a fight with A’ban.” Dirty or not, he’s getting ‘her’ dirty stare, complete with an unmistakably annoyed head tilt. “After the hatching.” Farideh clears that up with a cluck of her tongue; she pulls her crossed arms in tighter over her chest, tapping one foot as she waits for his apology.

"I'm sorry, do you like handsy men touching you? You certainly didn't ''look'' like you were wanting his amorous attentions." K'zin doesn't sound apologetic, so the 'I'm sorry' probably doesn't count. He shifts his sack to the ground, brows angled critically as he looks at the laundress.

“A’ban,” in a tolerant tone, “is harmless. Why is everyone so intolerant of a little drunken misbehavior? This is a ‘Weyr’.” Farideh looks exasperated, still tapping that foot, still expecting some sort of apology. “I can handle him, besides. If I had ‘wanted’ your help, I would have asked, so I think you owe him an apology. And do,” flinging a thumb behind her, “stop drooling over Leita. She hardly can handle all the men knocking on her door.”

"Why ''is'' ''everyone''-" Farideh, "-so intolerant of a little drunken misbehavior?" K'zin turns the question back on her, doubtlessly referring to the event that apparently has her requiring an apology of him. "It so happens, Know-it-all," He begins with an unapologetic look, "That Leita and I are old friends," which judging from the fact that he misremembered her name probably means they already slept together, "And that my girlfriend and I are ''very happy'' together, with a baker's dozen of freshly shelled babies to look after." The last bit probably isn't relevant but is likely on the over-tired bronzerider's mind.

Farideh scoffs, cocking her head to the side so she can give him a proper disbelieving stare. “You looked well within your rights to me. Now you’re claiming you were the drunk one?” She shakes her head, scowling up at K’zin - a scowl which once gets worse the more the bronzerider talks. “Leita isn’t friends with anyone. Really.” Her attitude is palpable: written in the wrinkle of her nose, the purse of his lips, and narrowed eyes. “Good for you. Being “happy” together doesn’t mean you don’t go sniffing out other women to have sex with. Leita can’t even remember what time her shift begins most days and she’s been in the laundry for five!” Poor, over-sexed, busty Leita.

"One? No, no. I'd never try to claim to be the ''only'' one into my cups at a feast. I'm not much for drinking anymore, so after so long without, it goes to the head faster. If it would help sooth your righteous indignation or whatever it is that's motivating you to such lengths for a drunken, misbehaving man," maybe implying some secret affection or something, his raised eyebrow challenges, "You can ask my girlfriend about my drinking habits and she'll tell you I was ''under the influence'' when my wingmates dragged me into the weyrling barracks as a sacrificial offering." Which is to say, he's already been punished for his idiocy. "You'll be relieved to know that ''I'' have nothing to do with Leita's memory issues anymore, but it doesn't mean we don't still get along." Even if 'friends' is a stretch.

What is the correct answer to give someone who makes reasons with logic? An intense glare, of course. “A’ban is harmless, and you should know better. Aren’t you bronzeriders supposed to be the cream of the crop or something?” But by her callous stare, she obviously doesn’t think he falls in that category. She turns her head and catches a look at busty Leita, who is happily entertaining the attentions of two other dragonriders. “I highly doubt that,” she replies tartly, flicking a perturbed glance back at K’zin with a childish thrust of her tongue. Take that!

"Listen, Farideh," K'zin says quite seriously, "If I didn't have a girlfriend, and you didn't have a boyfriend," he must mean A'ban, given her defense of the rider, "I'd be trying to get ''you'' into bed," what was that he said about tongues? "But since we do, can't we just be friends?" Even if she's occasionally offensive. It doesn't address the issue of bronzeriders, but really… isn't that answer something an innocent hold girl should learn on her own?

“That,” Farideh bites out while her eyes flare with anger, “is offensive.” That suggestion that they would, if not for the attentions of their ‘’partners’’, go to bed together. She moves to step around the bronzerider, dismissing him with a casual wave of her hand. “I don’t have room in my life for anymore ‘’friends’’, of which I’m sure you would be a horrible one.” Another jibe, another mocking face as she turns her face away - one he won’t see, but has its merits just the same.

K'zin sighs, eyes going to the ceiling in exasperation. "It was a ''compliment''. I was trying to ''compliment'' you." Who knew telling a girl you'd fuck her if you didn't have a girlfriend isn't a great compliment? Maybe Farideh should cut him slack; he's new at this whole ''relationship'' thing. But he's not going to try to ''argue'' with her, he'll simply heft his sack and step toward Leita - leave his clothes to Farideh's tender touches? Ha, no.
