Past the heavy curtain of the entrance, the weyr is simple enough, a pair
of oval caverns joined at the entrance: one for the dragon, with a series
of hooks and shelves for straps and other gear, and a smaller one for the
rider that comes equipped with a large if creaky bed and a gigantic carved
armoire that must have been assembled in place. There's enough space for a
small table by the hearth, which seems plain and utilitarian... until one
looks at the ironwork inside, cleverly made to not only toast bread but
serve as a rotisserie when desired. Opposite, in the deepest and most
shadowy part of the weyr, hangs the walls' only decoration: a tapestry
that's dull and faded with age to match the place's air of general
disuse... but behind it is a latched door, low-linteled enough that a
petite woman could only barely pass through without ducking her head.
Behind ''that'', an equally low-ceiinged staircase spirals down.
Such a muddy, messy day. Not that it bothers Rosvelth, who (as he explains to Evyth), rather likes the rain: it makes everything so much more ''dramatic'', doesn't she think? Besides, you can curl up beneath an overhang and just watch without getting wet, and... well, the view from his ledge is pretty impressive, #justsayin. Thus, we set our scene: an invitation offered and accepted, and a brown graciously greeting his guest, his rider nowhere to be seen (but presumably inside-- where else would he be?).

Evyth's arrival on Rosvelth's ledge is surely with the shared intention of rider and dragon to lift their spirits. Rosvelth's are quite high anyway and that pleases Evyth, delighted to listen to his thoughts. She ''does'' agree rain is more dramatic. Is there room under the overhang for her, too? She doesn't mind getting close if he doesn't! Lys is quick to disembark, with a smile for Rosvelth (she'll always like him; he's why she has Evyth), "Inside?" is asked, but she doesn't stall there in the face of the delightful weather to move to the entry. At least she calls, "You can come meet me here," where she's not trespassing ''so'' much, "or I can come all the way in." Nothing she hasn't seen before, of course.

There's plenty of room beneath the overhang... but Rosvelth, gracious host, will ''gladly'' snuggle up; shared warmth is important, naturally. And besides, aren't most things better with a friend? Inside the weyr, there's a clattering of... something and then there's Rhey, pinch-faced and blustery, stalking towards the entrance with his arms crossed. "What do you want?" is accusatory.

They ''are''! They really are. Evyth is delighted! He's everything he says and ''more''. Conversations are ''definitely'' better with friends. It's really a very excellent thing that Lys is here now so Rhey can have conversations with her. Lys has a blandly pleasant look to greet him. "I have a debt to settle." She glances back toward the ledge, "You know, I almost counted ''not'' taking that weyr that looks like it has a door that leads up here as favor enough to settle it." She looks at the Nabolese boy (man?).

Rosvelth is ''definitely'' your friend, Evyth. And friends... friends launch into long-winded stories about their recent exploits. That's what friendship is all about, right? "You don't owe me anything," insists his rider, scowling at Lys, with only a wince to acknowledge that he's aware of that weyr below, and that staircase between them.

Evyth is perfectly comfortable with this friendship model; it's sustainable. She's a good audience; what's not to like? "I do though. Besides, what kind of idiot throws away favors they've already paid for?" Lys asks, lifting her brows. "Anyway, you don't have to use it now, but it seemed only fair to make sure you knew you had it to use if you ever needed it. You ask, I'll do my best to deliver." Pretty straightforward really.

"What," is dismissive past the point of rudeness, "Do you possibly think you would be able to offer me?" The scoffing noise Rhey makes might as well include a spit at the ground, though he manages to restrain that, in the end. "The best thing you could do for me is stay the fuck away, and keep your whore green away from him."

"Dunno," Lys admits with a shrug. "No one I've asked has been able to begin to pinpoint anything you like. Except maybe information. I don't probably have anything I could tell you that's worthwhile now, but who knows what tomorrow holds?" Her expression stays so coolly casual. "In any case, if you'd like to be an idiot and waste your favor on a thing I can't actually control, that's your business."

Silence. It lasts a few beats, and then? "Get out."

Lys glances back toward the dragons. "Not sure they'll be moved." She looks back to the brownrider, "Unless... you know how to get your brown to want to give up my green?" She looks too innocent asking.

"Get. Her. Out." Rhey's tone is sharp, and don't for a second think he believes the innocence, Lys.

"I'm sorry, I thought I couldn't offer you anything?" Lys seems confused.

Rh'mis makes a noise of frustration and irritation, and then simply turns to stalk away, back into the weyr.

He doesn't turn, but his words certainly do carry back: "I will ''hurt'' you." In the dim, largely unlit weyr, they may be more ominous than they ought to be.

"Rhey," Lys calls again, and her voice has a slightly different tone to it now. Now it's not picking at him, but sounds like she might actually care, "Am I the closest thing you have to a friend here?"

"No," says Rhey, and though he sounds defensive, there's something in it that suggests that may even be true... or at least partially true. Still, he turns on his heel to glower back at the greenrider. "Stop caring. Stop... all of this. We're not friends, and I don't need your pity. I'm ''fine''."

"I don't pity you. You're kind of an idiot. That would be such a waste of feelings." Lys observes without coming any nearer. "And I never said you weren't fine. I just wondered." That might be all. "Maybe when you stop being an idiot, we'll be friends." There's something decidedly amused about that. That's about when Evyth, pained, ''interrupts'' Rosvelth's story. She has to take her rider away because Rh'mis doesn't want her there. It's terrible, really, she'd ''so love'' to stay. (She's even wholly genuine in that sentiment.)

"I'm ''fine''," repeats Rhey, quite as if Lys hadn't said what she's said. "I don't need you, or anyone. Fuck off." Rosvelth's mental sigh is a little over-dramatic, though perhaps it's genuine, too: his rider is such a pain in the ass sometimes, you know? << Come back without her, any time, >> he suggests. << We won't tell him. >>

Evyth is ''sympathetic'', but she's not empathetic. Her Lys is ''perfect''. Sometimes misguided, of course, but not a pain in the ass, not ever. Certainly, though, have that trouble, she knows, and she really feels for them. << Our secret, >> she's happy to promise. << She ''is'' his friend, though. He doesn't have to want her to be for her to be. >> This makes perfect sense to ''her'' at any rate. << And if he needs help, she'll help him, and not just because she feels like she owes him. >>

<< Good, >> decides Rosvelth, pleased with this outcome. << He needs friends. He has Arekoth's, but that's different. >> Exactly what is different about it he doesn't explain, instead adding: << Yours is very good and lovely and kind, and so, Evyth, are you. I'm so glad you came to visit. >>

Evyth agrees wholeheartedly. She's not sure what Rh'mis has with Arekoth's but she trusts Rosvelth's words (she usually does, even if sometimes with a little edge of awareness that he ''must'' be stretching the truth. She's a smart dragon, after all. Smart enough to know that now that Lys is mounted it's time to go. << Another day, Rosvelth. >> That's when she'll see him again.
