| log = Last month of the turn and predictably, High Reaches is buried in snow. How predictable the amount of snow is likely depends on how used to it one is, but it's an awful lot even for the locals, with more coming down. Iesaryth isn't bothered by cold or snow, it seems, the sun-touched queen sitting on her ledge to watch the bowl and skies beyond as the day ends, as per usual. She's not exactly bulkier, but she looks, perhaps, a bit ''bigger''. The curtain behind her is shut as tight as it can be, but the light spilling out underneath indicates someone's home.

Blast this snow straight to the Red Star. That's probably what H'vier is muttering under his breath as he cross through the bowl on foot toward the queens' ledges. He probably could've given better warning but he's already on his way when Reisoth's chilly distance reaches out to tell Iesaryth, << Mine comes at yours' request. >> It's the truth, just not, you know, an immediate request. Maybe H'vier's trying to make a point.

Iesaryth's all bright ocean and warmth by contrast, unconcerned, but she'll pass it along. Another piece to fit into place. << I appreciate the warning. >> Such as it is. She might sound a touch amused. Maybe her rider appreciates it less, but is that a shock, really? There's very little impatience in Brieli's expression as she ducks out from the curtain and onto the ledge, shrugging on a coat as she watches the snow fall. She's awfully ''quick'' about it.

"Hello there, beautiful," says H'vier as he's turning in to head toward the curtain of Brieli's weyr around the same time that she's coming out. "Just the person I wanted to see," he adds, wearing a grin that is ''entirely'' too friendly to be sincere. "I got your note. At least, I'm pretty sure it was from you. Either that or I've got a secret admirer. Are you heading somewhere? We should go inside." There's not very much pausing between all of those words that likely end up coming out as pushy.

"It was from me," Brieli confirms easily, more interested in doing up her coat than anything else at the moment, though her dark gaze does flicker up to gauge the quality of that smile; smirk faintly in return. "If I said I was on my way out, would it make you feel better? I like my space to be... mine." A pause, as she glances over to the gold, corrects, "Ours." ''She'' takes her time with her words. She also hosts a Fortian bronze on that ledge on a regular basis, so maybe there's exceptions. "I do appreciate you... coming by."

"Not really, I don't think. I'd love to see what you've got hiding behind your curtains." H'vier is not the ''only'' man that could make that sound lewd but he does a pretty good job of it. "I could take you back to ''my'' place, if you'd rather? I love having company over." His smile is still plastered on but after a few moments it fades slightly and he's asking, getting down to business. "So what do you want, then? It better not be bathing ''her,''" he says with a glance toward the gold.

"Mm. I'm sure you would. And I'm sure you do. I'm guessing that I'm somewhat more discriminating in terms of company." No judgment, but... Brieli finally has the buttons on her long coat dealt with, but there's a moment where she glances to the bowl, then to Iesaryth, who has a possibly-pointed snort. "It's not," she replies shortly, then turns to head inside after all, not looking all that thrilled with the idea. "Have you been to Telgar recently, by the way?"

That's okay. H'vier will look thrilled enough for the both of them as he follows Brieli into her weyr. "Not since I transferred here," he says absently as they pass the curtain and he can look around at all the things that make Brieli's weyr Brieli's. "Go back home from time to time. Weather is nicer." And probably other reasons besides the fact that he still seems to think of Ista as ''home.''

One might actually expect... more ''things'' for someone who's lived here for turns. There's not much that's in Brieli's weyr that likely wasn't there before, and any notes or hidework she's left on the table have been left face-down, as if she anticipates some sort of ''spying'', even if she doesn't have people in very often. It might be obvious in her complete lack of hospitality - no offer of a seat or a drink. She watches H'vier with a narrowed gaze briefly, then shrugs. "I used to go to Ista more often, before all of this." A vague gesture towards the ledge, the bowl, the Weyr in general. "So, obviously you have no problem with violence." Hell of an opening, yeah?

The bronzerider takes his sweet time casing what he sees. At least that's sort of what it looks like he's doing. But there's something in the way he does it that might suggest at least a hint of disappointment. Fortunately her comment draws H'vier's gaze right around back to her and he arches one think brow as he studies her. "None of them were my fault, you know." Of course they weren't. Violence is just attracted to him, obviously.

Her weyr isn't living up to his fantasies - or doesn't really give any indication of ''who'' she is. Brieli looks real sad about that. Folding her arms, not even taking off her coat, she tells him flatly, "I don't really care, honestly. It seems that you have no issue with kicking the shit out of someone for very little reason, yes? Or no." Arching her own fine brows expectantly, she just... waits.

H'vier doesn't say anything right away. He may not be the brightest man on the planet but he's not the slowest, either. So putting things together is probably not a wild leap of faith. "Are you asking me to kick the shit out of someone for you, darling? I'm not sure that little favor of yours covers assault." He doesn't explicitly answer her question, one might note.

"I'm fairly sure it does. Or you can move ''home'', if you miss it so much." Innocent now, Brieli blinks up and over at H'vier like she has ''no idea'' why that wouldn't be an option. "You don't seem to understand how this works. Besides, no actual violence will be required. At first. ''Likely'' at all, but I'm not the sort of person who backs down, as I'm certain you understand." There's a slight, sweet smile that's so saccharine it's closer to a smirk. And then she looks at her nails, as if distracted momentarily.

"Oh, I understand how it works just fine," says H'vier, not ''entirely'' pleased that the goldrider isn't being very cooperative with letting him call the shots and push her around. Things are so much easier when women have no backbones. He crosses his arms over his chest and sighs, setting his jaw for a moment before he's prompting her to get on with it. "What, then?"

The pout Brieli directs at H'vier might be mocking, but since he's being more cooperative, she'll favor the bronzerider with a brilliant, lovely smile, one that nearly reaches dark eyes. One that might be a stark contrast to the words that come next. "I want you to go tell K'del to stop whatever little revolutions or plots he has going on, or you'll break his legs." A pause. "It doesn't need to be that specifically, but I liked the sound of it."

The words don't affect H'vier's expression in any significant way. That probably just reinforces the idea that the former Istan has no particular problem with the whole violence thing. "And you think that will make him stop whatever he might be up to? What makes you think I don't agree with him?" He doesn't say no, though, so there's that.

With a little shrug, "It might. It'd give me pause, certainly. But it might not, and... well. I suppose it's difficult to conspire in or out of Weyr when you're stuck in the infirmary. And..." Brieli tilts her head to the side, regarding H'vier for a long moment, dark gaze sharp. "I don't think you agree with him enough to ''follow'' him. I think that you'll likely do what's best for you. And frankly, I think that it doesn't matter. That's what I want." She seems accustomed to getting what she wants, or at least, giving the impression she does. "I also think I'm more useful than he is, if you want to be completely mercenary about it."

H'vier can't argue with that. Having someone like him threatening him would probably give him pause, too. Or make him hit them. Either way, he's definitely listening as she continues, one of his crossed arms bending up so his hand can rub idly over the scruff of his jaw. "So very perceptive of you, lovely." Indeed, the bronzerider is very likely to care most about what he can get out of the situation for himself. "How so? Do you fancy yourselves Senior Weyrwomen both?"

"I try to be good at my job. Being perceptive, or at the very least observant, is part of that. In my mind." Not to draw any parallels. Brieli's just saying. Just explaining her ''position''. She's still watching H'vier carefully, though she'll let herself perch on the edge of one of the armchairs, boots crossing at the ankle. With a smirk, purposefully misinterpreting, "K'del and I? No, I think we know which one's the Weyrwoman, though he runs like a ''girl''." She'll take a moment before, asking, quite seriously, "Who do you think ''decides'' anything around here?"

"Don't be cute." Oh, he knows perfectly well that she knows who he meant. H'vier isn't moving to settle in anywhere and make himself at home. He's far too busy keeping his intense eyes on Brieli. It's probably not that he thinks she's likely to do anything dangerous but there's still something vaguely wary in his expression. "What do I get out of it?" Maybe he's forgetting that this is his part of a very one-sided bargain.

With a flicker of a smile, "I just can't help myself." Brieli seems amused by the caution, but she's likely more comfortable; her chair, her place, ''not'' her fate hanging in the balance. That is, as far as H'vier knows. Magnanimously, she allows, "We're both Acting Weyrwomen, as before. Though circumstances could change. Say with external threats becoming apparent, for example." Just one of many, of ''course''. "You get to stay, not to put too fine a point on it? As you certainly haven't kept yourself out of trouble." A beat, then reluctantly - maybe too much so to be serious - "And ''maybe'' I can stop holding all that over your head and we could be... associates." Not 'friends'; she knows his definition of that.

"They weren't my fault." H'vier repeats that absently, rubbing his hand along his jaw before his arm bends back down to resume the crossing. No doubt he claims ''some'' responsibility for the fights he's gotten into since he arrived at the Reaches. But still not his fault, evidently. Her last comment earns a dubious arch of that same brow but all the same he says, "Fine. You have a specific time frame?" It almost sounds like he's done something like this before.

Rolling her eyes, "Nothing is ever anyone's fault. Someone else started it, pushed them into it, made it happen, ''whatever''. Your actions are still yours, though you can blame whoever you like for them." Though Brieli can allow, tilting her head again to regard him evenly, dark curls spilling to one side, "I suppose Hraedhyth might have something to do with at least one of them." And for his last? She just smiles. It's too pretty for the conversation. Unfolding to wave a hand diffidently, "Take your time, if you need it." As she pushes off the arm of her chair, "Don't look so ''worried''. I'm not setting you up."

Suspicion and inappropriate comments are two of the things that come most naturally to the bronzerider. So why not just smash them both together? "You know, I don't usually go threatening men for pretty girls that have no intention of getting naked for me." That seems to be mostly rhetorical, though, and H'vier is still studying Brieli until he finally says, "Is that it, then?" Respectful enough to wait for dismissal? Maybe he's still holding out hope on the naked thing.

Brieli blinks once at H'vier - and she has to laugh, an actual ''sincerely entertained'' laugh that escapes her before she can hide it beneath her more neutral, normal demeanor. Dark eyes bright, "I certainly hope that you don't make it a habit. But it's nice that you think I'm pretty." She knows she's pretty. And no, she's not getting naked, though she can start undoing her coat now. Maybe. Arching fine brows again, "That's it. Unless you're in need of something that doesn't involve me taking off my clothes?"

Her laugh earns a more natural grin from the bronzerider but he shakes his head and his arms uncross as he starts to take a step back. "I'll get back to you about that, yeah? Have a good day, Brieli." H'vier turns to leave, then, moving past the curtain and back out into the horrible, horrible snow.
