About as high up the bowl wall as it is possible to get before hitting
clear sky, right up against the rim, this ledge is tiny, narrow and not
terribly inviting. Though angled towards the sun, there's not enough room
to properly stretch out, and that same angle ensures it receives the worst
of bad weather, with no shelter whatsoever. From above, there's not even
an obvious passage inside, as if this particular ledge is, in the end,
nothing more than a natural outcropping. It's only from atop the ledge
itself that the cleverly concealed entrance becomes clear, angled into the
stone as it is.

Inside, there's a cavernous space, more than making up for the stinginess
of the ledge. There's one large main room, and a much smaller back room
that could probably be used as a bedroom - if this weyr were in
traditional usage. Instead, the main cavern is largely filled with a
collection of mismatched tables and chairs. Towards the back, there's a
bar made out of old, recycled wood, manned during peak hours; there's
plenty of alcohol on display behind it, though most of it tends towards
the cheaper end of the range. Old, but still impressive, hangings cover
the walls, all depicting scenes of High Reaches in glory. The back room
has been turned into a storage area, with several cases of whisky and a
variety of other spirits ready and waiting.

A strange pipe contraption comes through the ceiling and towards the stone
floor, where a large bucket sits beneath it. A lever turns on water from
the pipe: fresh rain or snow, ready for drinking.

It is a little early in the morning to be drinking. That might explain why the curtain that has normally been hanging in the background of the Lounge for the last few months has been removed to show the mural that seems to be nearing completion. Humming to herself and with various splotches of color on her face and fingers, the former scribe seems to be finishing out the wings on a particularly shimmery looking blue. There is an open bottle and a glass of wine on a nearby table along with various jars of pigment.

K'zin arrives by elevator dragon, rather than his own lifemate, his entry into the lounge quiet. He comes bearing a roll of what must be unusually large dimensioned paper, starting toward a table before his eyes catch on the mural and his feet are drawn that way. His expression is unreadable; he observes though one might wonder if he ''admires''.

There's a rhythm to the brushstrokes, hell she's even swaying a little to the tune she hums. It's wingbeats that have her turning, however, catching sight of K'zin, ears going slightly red. "Um. How long have you been here?" moving to set the brush into a jar of water.

"Not long," K'zin assures, distractedly, his eyes only belatedly going to the younger woman. "Is that paint from the stores?" He queries, moving to peek at the paint she works with.

"Some of it is, most of it is tweaked from what we had in stores, and the rest I had to make. It will be a few turns before I can judge how colorfast it is." She comments, "It's been nice not being in the records room all the time, I can get out and gather ingredients." Glancing over to the paper, "New project?"

K'zin's nod is for the first. "Careful with the yellow," presumably if it's not homemade, "it's been puckering when it dries," which is reason to frown faintly. He glances to the papers, "Nah, T'lan needed something bigger to sketch on, knew I had some stored up."

"Even if you use thinner layers and build up the section slowly?" She queries, eyeing the figure that isn't quite yet distinguishable in the group that is Aurora wing. "Mm, It is a nice size, hard to find a way to work that big usually I'm limited to my notebooks." She murmurs wiping her hands on her apron and beginning to clean up. "Been staying out of trouble or getting buried neck deep in it these days?"

"Mm," K'zin confirms with the casual authority of one well experienced in using stores' paints on walls. "I think there's a batch that didn't mix right, but maybe you lucked out and got one from another." His shrug is easy, "Things are fine," evidently nothing so terribly interesting (without the tongue-loosening effects of alcohol) that it's worth noting.

Edyis furrows her brows at that. "No, now I can't trust it. Means I'll have to bribe someone into making a few trips before I can finish up the Aurora wing." Muttered with some twitching of her fingers as she seals the last of the pots setting them into a small box and moving to close the makeshift curtain. "Thanks for the warning though I would have been pissed if I found out too late."

"Better that than puckered paint," K'zin answers in a way that conveys the gravity of such things to ''artists''. "K'zin," is called from the bluerider just entering. "T'lan," is greeted back before the bronzerider offers to Edyis, "About the paper, I've got some contacts, if you ever need it," artists share and share alike, and then he's moving to do his sharing with the bluerider by proffering over the papers and entering a discussion over T'lan's latest subjects and planned projects.
