But at the weyr, the queen is notably absent, and her rider is slowly pacing the length of her couch, her arms wrapped loosely around the middle of her torso. Farideh's expression is distracted and slightly bothered, but she ''does'' look marginally ''better'' than she has in recent weeks; less sickly, with a pretty deep purple dress that compliments her features.

Like a coming storm (only less tempestuous), Tacuseth's shadows impend upon the gold when she calls. He's in the Weyr, which could be why he's quick to respond: << We come. >> It's only a moment that the blue lands on the vacant ground ledge long enough to deposit his Jo there before taking to the skies once more in the direction of a particular ledge not their own. Jo walks in without any preamble, only pausing once she's within Farideh's proximity. "Gentle kitten?" is her greeting, the woman encased in black leather and curiosity. Dark eyes flick over her body with familiarity before she states, "Somethin's changed." Not a question.

Is it ''relief'' on Farideh's face when Jo arrives? If so, Farideh is quick to assume a dissatisfied look and brusque manner. "I got a new chair," the goldrider answers, motioning to a slim piece of furniture upholstered in bronze. "Is that what you mean?" She slants the other man an annoyed glance, before moving around the couch to grab something off the low table; it happens to be a piece of paper that she's carefully pressing and re-folding, between her fingers as she walks back towards Jo. "I have something I want to share with you. I think you're the right person."

Jo doesn't miss much, even though the bluerider only lets the slight smirk answer for her. "I'm sure it's not the chair," she levels at Farideh with a ''look'', her chin dropping. Her gaze is on her body with slight furrowed brows. Still, leaning up against the couch now with her arms folding, she watches the goldrider as she grabs that paper and approaches her. A brow lifts at her for what she says before she returns back with, "What is it, darlin'?"

Only the narrowing of her eyes shows her annoyance with the bluerider's insinuations, but for now, there's another matter to attend to. "I received a letter. It came from Tillek," Farideh explains, slowly, smoothing the letter between her fingers still. "I don't think I need to explain to you what our restrictions are with Tillek right now." She pauses to let that sink in, before holding out the letter to Jo, never dropping her gaze. "Do you think you would be aboard?"

Midway through month 11, there's a letter delivered amidst the usual paperwork, one without official seal or designation.

Dear goldrider,

I apologize for taking your time. I understand that you must be busy, and that with no official seal, this letter may not even reach you. Oh, bug please, please continue reading, if you have begun. I don't know what to do. I read that you are young and beautiful, and I hope that you will have understanding for a simple holder girl.

My name is Aisari, and I am fifteen. My father has land just outside of Tillek Hold, and that is the only home I have ever known. Across from our land is that of Milendo and his son, Kiridos.

It is the intention of our fathers that Kiridos and I wed, and I do not wish it. Kiridos is my friend, but I do not love him, and I do not want him. Our fathers wish to see our land combined.

When I heard news of your queen's flight, I felt hope in my heart at last. My intention was to pay a dragonrider to take me back on Search. I do not care if I Impression, or not, only that I can get away from this terrible marriage.

But now I hear that you are not permitted to Search, and I fear that all is lost. What can I do? I cannot run without somewhere to go, or in winter.

Please, goldrider Farideh, I am begging you. Is there not something you can do for me? I must wed Kiridos at turn's end.

Please. Help me.

That to irritate Farideh seems to be Jo's aim in life, for the smile is indulgent. She seems willing to set her suspicions aside, though, eyes falling on the letter. Once it's offered, she takes it up, unfolds it wordlessly and reads it for herself while the other speaks. There's a grunt on something read before she looks back up and folds the letter back up. "This Tillek business is gonna become a problem, eh?" the wingsecond is casual in saying, idly tapping the folded letter against her palm. "Tell me why ya wanna help her."

"It won't ''become'', it ''is''." A breath is taken, fingers raking through her loose hair, and Farideh cuts Jo a ''look''. "I can't tell Irianke. She'll say no. There's things we ''can't'' do. It would be bad for our relationship with the Hold. It would-" She stops herself, and turns to consider the tapestry on the wall. "I have a friend who went through something similar. You can all me sentimental or silly, I don't care, but it would be cruel, being that we ''know'', to ignore it."

"''You'' can't do anythin'," Jo agrees on that, "but ''I'' can." Leaning back against the couch once more as she nods a few times, "It's not silly," she says evenly, watching Farideh from her position. "Even my father had someone picked out for me to marry if I hadn' ran. My gentle kitten has earned her name well," she muses now with a quirk of lips, "but 'course, I wouldn' be me if I didn' charge. A favor. That'll make it two'n I'm lookin' to cash those in quite soon. Nothin' ''serious''. I'll do it," she decides to say, chin lifting. "I'll need to know what I'm up against, though. If any. Is this me goin' in, grabbin' her'n bringin' her back -sort of deal? Will there be possible conflict there?"

"You can," is barely above a whisper, hazel eyes drifting back to Jo. Farideh doesn't comment on the bits about marriage and her nickname, content to let the bluerider guess what she will. "Two favors?" There's a wry twist to her mouth, but it's not completely kind. "And soon? What, pray tell, could you be wanting?" For the rest, she waves her hand dismissively. "I don't know what you do. I don't want to know what you do. Get in and get her, bring her back, without anyone finding out it was ''us''. You might have to leave Tacuseth elsewhere. I think a big blue dragon on the eve of Search might be a glaring ''sign'' to the holders," she says, fingers curling underneath her chin. "I don't imagine that Irianke or K'del would be happy if they found out, so don't get caught."

"We'll talk once that queen of yers clutches," is all Jo says on those favors. "No dragon, 'course," she goes on to say, shaking her head. Still smiling. "No ''Jo''. I know how to play this, baby. Might be a lil' slow-goin' for her, but I'd imagine she won' mind that if she's so desperate. Where will ya secure her, though? The barracks would be awfully ''obvious'' without eggs on the sands. Will I be deliverin' her to ''you''?"

Both of Farideh's eyebrows lift in silent question, but she doesn't press. "If she's so desperate, then I doubt that she will many objections, and if she does, you can always threaten to drop her off on the side of the road." That's ''probably'' a joke, however bland the goldrider's face is. "Deliver her to me. I would like to talk to her, first. Even if it's early in the morning or too late at night. I want her here. If someone ''asks'', you can say I'm trying to hire her as my new assistant. Irianke has more than one. It's not completely ''strange'', though--" She frowns. "I'll figure it out, when she gets here. She has to have ''some'' skills."

"So ruthless for one so ''gentle''," is Jo's comment on that desperation, one corner of her mouth lifting. "I was wonderin' where she was. The one with the claws. She hasn' surfaced in sevens." Nodding once more of the plans are hashed out, "I'll focus on just gettin' her here, then," she says more evenly, firmly. "What ya do with her once she's here is yer business. I'll drop by with her'n no one'll ask what I'm doin' with anybody. Shouldn' be ''too'' hard, gettin' her out on foot. How're ya gonna let her know that I'm comin'?"

"I wouldn't hold your breath," Farideh says, folding her arms over her chest. "I don't like to make it a habit if I can't help it, but I'm not-- she ''could'' be lying, she could just be a silly girl who wants to stand or she'll just ''die''. She needs to be desperate if she's ''really'' in that situation. If she's not, then she's--" One shoulder lifts in a casual shrug. "I don't know if that's ''needed'', really? Do you think I should send a runner to find her and drop a note? She should be ''expecting'' it, given the letter she's written. Will you have trouble finding her, this-- Aisari?"

With a short chuckle, "Feline's always close by, I reckon," Jo notes, fingering that sheet of paper. "'N, I hope she's honest for ''her'' sake. Will ya be able to tell the lie from the truth, Farideh? Even desperation can be faked. Be prepared for that possibility, in any case." The note gets offered back to Farideh then as she says, "No, I don' expect a runner, but if ya want I can send Mime, my fire lizard, on over with one. In case she thinks I'm there for somethin' nefarious rather than helpful. I'll leave out names, darlin'."

"Is that wishful thinking?" Farideh's lips, finally, curve in the start of a smile, but its upward arc falters and flattens. "I don't know. I am sure I get lied to all the time and can't tell the difference, but luckily I have ''you'' to help. You'll be travelling with her. If you think she's not--" She takes the note, to resmooth with her fingers into crisp creases. "Do you think that's wise? What if he ends up delivering to the wrong person? And then it gets to Lady Edeline?"

"I think we both know I can handle rough," says Jo with just the taste of suggestion in her dry tone. Once the note is taken, "Yeah, ya got me," she agrees with an incline of her head. "I'll see if she's legit. If she's not, I'm leavin' her ass in Tillek to whatever fate she's runnin' from. Ya should learn to tell lie from truth, darlin'. It's a useful skill for a weyrwoman. One ya can learn from bein' around liars a lot. Tell ya what," and she straightens her jacket without straightening up her posture. "I'll send someone to scout in Tillek. Get a look'n feel for her first. I'll know what I need to do from there. That way, the folks we're avoidin' won' even know what's been stolen from under their noses when the time comes. Lady Edeline won' learn a thing."

The relief, this time, is obvious and immeasurable. "That sounds like a good plan of action. I can't-- disappoint Irinake, again. Not with this. Not right now when-- well, I'd say our relations with Tillek couldn't get worse-- but them limiting our search potential is pretty bad as is," Farideh says, tucking the letter between her fingers as her arms re-cross over her chest. "I'm grateful for the favor, Jo, and the one before that. Whatever your favors are, in return, hopefully, I'm capable and able to assist likewise," she says, only ''slightly'' sassy.

"When was the last time ya disappointed her?" Jo asks after Irianke as she gives Farideh's weyr a good once-over from where she leans. It's only when thoe favors are brought up that she straightens to her feet, closing the distance between them with slow steps until she's almost in passing of the goldrider. Long fingers reach up to finger whatever strand of Farideh's hair she can reach, her head tilting just so as her gaze lingers on that hair rather than her face as she says, "Anythin' for our weyrwomen," she drawls out, including Irianke both. "Yer capable, love. But don' worry. I wouldn' make'm sexual. Not my style." The smile is broader as she finally steps on pass her, heading towards the ledge before she states, perhaps deliberately, "Nice dress."

"I think it was when-- I wasn't the most upstanding weyrling in the last class. Grounded twice before we even graduated." Farideh laughs at herself, but her breath catches when the bluerider comes near, her jaw tensing and her eyes focused on the fingers toying with her hair. "I didn't think they were. I'm ''not'' Irianke. I don't have the power to grant you wishes," she says, and she's quiet when the other woman moves towards the ledge, until impudently, "I have plenty."

"She shouldn've been," Jo tells her on being disappointed, once the situation was revealed. "A lil' rebellion in a weyrwoman isn' a ''bad'' thing." Farideh's answers draws amusement from the wily convict rider, but she does say in return, "It's good that yer not. I don' ask for wishes granted, but I do ask for candidates cleared once Rozsadyth clutches. Even I have favors owed. We'll talk, kitten. 'Till then, I'll get that scout out there in Tillek. Anythin' else, ya let me know."

"Candidates," is surprised. "I can get you candidates." Farideh's bewilderment doesn't cease there, though she manages not to have her jaw hanging slack. "Keep me updated? Have Tacuseth tell Roszadyth if you're busy, or I'm busy, but I want to know, and if you run into trouble--" It's not ''said'', but then, it probably doesn't need to be.

"''I'' have candidates," Jo corrects lightly with a half-shouldered shrug. "It's a 'no questions asked' sort of situation. Like yer Tillek problem." Tongue clicks to the roof of her mouth and she ticks off a nod before she's heading out. "Tac'll let ya know," she promises over her shoulder, giving Farideh a backhanded wave. "Ya keep us posted, too. Don' worry 'bout trouble. See ya 'round, kitten."

"That's what I meant," off-handed, with her own dismissive wave, but since Jo is already walking out the door, there's not much more than a sullen look and a sigh. "Goodbye, Jo," Farideh shoots after the bluerider, and she remains, staring until she's cleared the entryway.
