With its entrance located between the kitchen and the living cavern, this tiny bubble cavern is cozy, always kept warm and is filled with comfortable chairs and a small round table. At the far end, there's a hearth, outlined in ruddy, aging bricks, where a pot of stew simmers in the evening hours. Generally quiet, the nighthearth is the haunt of insomniacs and those seeking quiet from the bustle of daily Weyr life.

Edyis felt more exhausted than she looked, it wasn't even noon, but she'd been working non-stop since sunrise. Glancing at the wax tablet in hand, there were still several people she needed to find and speak with, not the least of which was the records master for another writing lesson. Still one ''short'' break wouldn't hurt. The night hearth was somewhat abandoned this time of day, but the pot of Klah brewing smelled fresh. She glanced around for a chair, and to see if anyone else she'd had trouble tracking down had filtered through the room, before setting her sights on an overstuffed chair.

If the nighthearth is somewhat quiet, it's a good time for Aishani to have taken over a chair by the fire for a cup of klah of her own, though one she's surreptitiously topping off with a silver flask that appears from the inner folds of her riding jacket. Her boots are kicked up on the hearth before her, and she looks as if she hasn't moved in some time. As Edyis arrives, her dark gaze follows the young woman, curious. "Evening."

Edyis offers a smile, "Hello, your Iesaryth's rider right? Aishani?" The girl tried to recall. "Pleasure to see you Ma'am." She offers settling into a nearby chair. Her thoughts drift to the tablet, a moment but she's not ready to launch off onto that topic yet. Break means break after all. "How are you doing? I don't believe I've seen you since the hatching feast."

After a sip from her mug, testing it, Aishani nods once Edyis' way, setting it aside, only to cap her flask and tuck it away. "That's me, yes. And if you say so." That it's a pleasure, that is. Taking up her spiked klah again, she has another sip before looking over the younger girl, faintly curious. "Mm. Well enough. I don't believe we've been introduced? Did you enjoy the feast?"

"Edyis of Riverbend" the girl offers, taking a deep sip from her mug. "I stood for Iesaryth's clutch," this given by way of introduction. "It was interesting to see a weyr event of that magnitude first hand, I enjoyed meeting everyone, still getting used to the place though." she offers of the feast. "I decided to stay on, looking for work as someone's assistant."

With a squint at the girl's face now, Shani looks faintly apologetic for not noticing the whole former-candidate thing right off; she gives Edyis a more appraising look before echoing, "Of Riverbend. But at High Reaches still." Slouching down into her jacket, her expression neutral, cultured tones accentless, "I hope you weren't disappointed. Assistant in what sense? What did you do with yourself, in Riverbend?"

Edyis doesn't seem bothered by not being recognized, "Yes, well, with the Nabol situation being what it is, it made sense staying on here. " Edyis wondered idly how many more like herself there were in the weyr, displaced by the crisis of succession and how the weyr was going to handle them now. Aishani's question which draws her from her thoughts. "I spent my days learning to run a hold, and had expected to marry into one of the major houses. So naturally I learned a little bit of recordkeeping, mending, how to look after children, and the manners expected of a girl my age. I've negotiated a deal with one of the scribes here to continue learning, and improve my education. I thought a position as an assistant would be a good way to learn the Weyr, its politics, people and customs. Running errands, paperwork that sort of thing."

Lips purse at the 'Nabol situation', as Aishani glances down to look into her mug thoughtfully. "Hopefully that should settle down in time. But if you continue to prefer life here, there is nothing to say you can't stay on, however you make yourself useful." After giving it a swirl, she tilts the mug back to drain it. Glancing toward Edyis sidelong, "You've been keeping busy, it sounds like. I can see your point, and I suppose that your skills might lend themselves to such work. Have you spoken with the Headwoman? I imagine she's likely short some staff after the hatching."

Edyis takes another long sip, "One hopes, adamantly. To think Rone showed his face at the hatching after the things he's done." She catches herself, and stifles the anger quickly. "My apologies Ma'am. I suppose I'm still not quite as composed over the issue as I aught to be." For business, and the headwoman she nods, finishing her sip before speaking. "Yes, its helped - keeping busy. I haven't had a chance to catch her yet, I'm starting to think she can go 'between'."

Dryly, "One doesn't do such things without having the stones to show up at a hatching after doing them, yes?" Aishani shrugs at the apology, seeming unconcerned with Edyis' anger or lack there of over the issue. Perhaps she's seen it before. There's also rumors the goldrider carries knives, ones other than the one obvious at her hip, stabbed a bronzerider last flight. Setting her empty mug on the arm of her chair, "She is busy. But I imagine that might be the best person to... assist." A pause. "My cousin does most of my assisting, for the moment."

"Valid point." she comments of Rone, "Still, if he becomes Lord Holder, I would expect far more trouble out of Nabol in the future." more to herself than the rider. For the advice she nods, "Thank you I will track her down, the advice is welcome." For the comment on her cousin Edyis nods thoughtfully. "Sometimes it's best that way, family will go above and beyond anything anyone might expect." Generally it was her experience that they also made the largest sacrifices on each other's behalf.

Tilting her head to one side, Aishani regards Edyis curiously. "Do you really think that's of concern? I suppose you must, otherwise it wouldn't be mentioned, would it..." The tall, dark woman looks back to her mug contemplatively before seeming to make a decision; she moves suddenly and swiftly when she stands, taking the mug over to the table. "I'll actually tell her to look for you next time we have a meeting, if you'd like. It's not an issue. I'm sure she'd appreciate a capable candidate to help her out."

Edyis bites her lip, thoughtfully. "I came here to stand, I have no idea what the weyr or the lords are thinking. I can only hope that those who can, will make the right decisions for Hold, Hall and Weyr." She nods smiling, "Thank you, I appriciate it." She stands to offer the gold-rider a parting curtsey, assuming the woman is preparing to set off to whatever duties she has next. "It was a pleasure meeting you again."

With a shrug, "I like to know what people are wondering." Starting off into the caverns, Aishani has something of a derisive little laugh, shaking her head. "Oh. Don't we all hope that. And not at all, Edyis. Do find me if you continue to have problems. And enjoy your evening." She offers a little wave over her shoulder before disappearing off into the shadows of the Weyr.
