In her head, Khiabeth was a jumble of emotions: pleased to be flying, not happy about carrying such cargo, delighted to be seeing dragons she half-remembered growing up with, and jealous of the proddy green that was getting all the attention. In short, it made concentrating rather difficult, which was problematic.

Reesa'd insisted on being involved in the delivery of cargo to Southern Boll. She just wasn't quite sure what she'd do when she got there.

It was strange, seeing faces she remembered. Those that had helped her raise Khiabeth. Nesri, and H'rsal and all the others.

''Are they?''

Reesa made a show of unhooking one of the crates strapped to Khiabeth's back, as H'rsal approached her.

His voice was couched low, pleased to see her: "I was hoping you would be here, Ree. I knew you'd come with us."

Oh, for calmness, but Khiabeth was in her head and the words came out biting: "With you? This is madness, H'rsal. A /Hold/? We're /dragonriders/!"

"Yes, we are. And we take what we want." H'rsal lifted the crate from her with a big grin. "This'll be enough to last us."

"Until?"

"Until..." H'rsal's smile faded as he stared at her. "You /are/ coming?"

The greenrider hadn't made up her mind until he asked, and the answer was crystal clear: "No." She didn't like the look in his gaze, and she added, hastily, "I'm better placed where I am. If you need more information, or you need to come back for more things..."

Reesa squirmed under H'rsal's look. Did he believe her? Did it matter, as long as she got to stay? He opened his mouth, but before he could respond, one of Hematites' bluerider's strode up: "Ree, need help with...?"

By the time he finished the sentence, H'rsal had retreated, but not without a last look.

<< They won't forget, >> Khiabeth told her. Was that word from H'rsal's brown? She wasn't sure.
