The Snowasis is rarely quiet, and even then, the high-ceilinged former weyr is kept from echoing by the fantastical booths tucked into its convoluted perimeter. The secluded seating spaces have been shaped from the truncated stalagmites that escaped the smoothing of the main floor, and are both softened and separated by colorful hangings that are thick and opaque enough to make each corner its own private nook.

Some of the smaller stalactites still roam the ceiling, their jagged teeth tracing a bumpy, inverted spine to the hearth. There, a thick rug with a low klah table and comfortable armchairs and couches sit, their upholstery and cushions changed sporadically to match the season: bright, light colors in the summer, fresh greens and yellows in the spring, warm autumnals in fall, and clear, rich hues for winter. Small tables litter the rest of the cavern, enough to fit up to four people each, while stools stand along the smooth wooden bar behind which is the passthrough window to the kitchen. Glass-paneled cabinetry behind the bar provides a clear view of the available liquors, the many colors reflecting the soft light of glows tucked into strategic niches around the cavern.

Autumn brings the dreary weather back to High Reaches, and the people in from the patio to crowd the bar, especially around dusk when the temperature begins to drop and the growing dark brings a chill to the air. The barstools themselves are all taken, which might be the reason Aishani's not perched there, long legs crossed and swinging as she eavesdrops on the conversations surrounding; no, tonight, she's got a table to herself and a drink in hand, dark gaze watching the bar. Though Iesaryth's moodiness is long past, her rider still can't quite cover her general displeasure with the state of things, edging her neutrality into something more gloomy.

The bruising K'del wore in the aftermath of Isyath's flight has faded; by now, the only reminder of it is the slight change in the shape of his nose-- a faint crookedness. The bronzerider shucks off his jacket as he enters the bar, leaving it to hang on one of the hooks near the entrance, and orders himself a beer. With all those barstools taken, he can't linger about the bar to take stock of the other patrons, and so he's taken a few steps away before his searching gaze seeks out potential company. It's likely Aishani's gloominess that attracts him, sending him meandering oh-so-casually towards that table, where he seems to intend to sit, just like that.

To her credit, Aishani doesn't look entirely disgusted as K'del sits, doesn't cringe away in horror from either his general presence or his new 'disfigurement', such as it is. But it doesn't exactly brighten her day either; she just purses her lips, flicking a curl back over one shoulder, takes a drink. It's not as if she can really stop him from walking over or taking a seat, though her boots uncross like she might be thinking of kicking it out from under him at the last minute. As it is, she only ('only') asks, flatly, "To what do I owe the pleasure." Her tone means the opposite of her words.

"Bars pretty busy," breezes K'del, as he settles into that seat. "Not many seats open. Not even the ''Weyrwoman'' could get by on her own when seats're limited." And, or so his tone implies, she's not even that! He turns his head to consider her, adjusting his mug until it sits in exactly the right position in front of him: in perfect reaching distance. "Cheer up. Not the end of the world. You can pay him back, when some other schmuck's dragon catches Iesaryth, next time ''she'' rises." So casual. So ''cheerful''.

"Such is the way of bars. Sometimes one is stuck with those with whom they'd never socialize otherwise." The look Aishani gives K'del doesn't need to be significant - it's just obvious, then she finishes her drink and sets down the glass. Eyeing his mug as he speaks, perhaps judging her own reaching distance, there's a faint smirk that surfaces; her sharp gaze flickers up. "Maybe. Maybe not. But as I'm ''certain'' you've heard, I have bigger problems to worry about." But that doesn't mean smaller ones don't ''bother'' her, does it? She can't be that mature. There's a glance over her shoulder for a waiter.

Though it can't exactly have been a stunningly successful few sevens for K'del, what with the broken nose, flight loss, and oh yes, being forced to fight a mock threadfall he disagreed with, the bronzerider seems to be in a pretty good mood at this present moment. Aishani's replies make him laugh, anyway. "Bigger problems never do take away from the small ones, though. In my experience. Unless you really don't have feelings inside there? What ''are'' you going to do." With N'rov? With the wings? With Taikrin, the Holds, someone else? "It's not like Ali wanted him, if it helps. Or would you rather talk about something else?"

That good mood of the bronzerider's might be confusing for Aishani if she weren't already suspicious of K'del, already convinced he's up to something. Her gaze narrows at the laugh, not even pretending to be anything but displeased, though she limits her response to the side-eye before getting an order in with a waiter who - understandably - would really like to get out of there. "It always surprises me that people think someone who cared so much for their family that they gave their life to one goal has no ''feelings''. You know I wasn't happy - everyone knows, because of Iesaryth. Does it make you feel better to hear me say it?" A pause, long fingers playing over the rim of the empty glass, as she watches them intently. "I'll do what I have to do. I always do. Will you continue to make things worse?" For her, in general, who knows.

"Well, it's obvious you don't have much empathy for other people. It's hard to know if you feel anything other than hate, really." It doesn't really seem as though K'del believes that, though, not when he's shaking his head like that, rolling his eyes." His gaze follows that waiter away, but dispassionately; when he glances back towards the goldrider, it's to say, "That's the one thing you and I have in common: we both do what we have to. You do what you think is best, and so do I. Apparently, we have pretty dramatically different ideas of what that is. ''Personally'', I'm not a big fan of pissing off Holds who already have a problem with us, but what would I know?"

With a return of that smirk of hers, "I don't have much empathy for you. Don't confuse that with the rest of the world. Though..." Aishani trails off, tilts her head and considers as she looks up, notes, "It was why I didn't just let the place go, why I've tried to keep it together. But if no one likes how I handle things ''after'' I've asked for their help, well. Maybe I should leave it to Azaylia and see how that goes. I'm sure she'll handle everything with the Holds brilliantly." Not that she totally means that either, but there's a certain weary edge to her tone that makes it half-serious: fuck you guys, I'm going home. "Do you think that people will stop protesting what they don't like after it's happened twice, even under a 'proper' leadership? This is ''dangerous'', and you knew that the first time, but you're the one with the hate issue - blinding you to that. But I mean, I want to see the place burn, so what do I care?"

"Ah, yes. Never, ever shall I be allowed to forgotten that, once upon a time, ''I'' did something ''you'' don't agree with-- and it's been your job to punish me ever since." K'del's unbothered by the rest of what Aishani says, greeting it with a level glance, one that only breaks off when he seeks out his mug to take a long sip from it. "I'm one of many voices, this time. One of ''many''. And shells, it's not even as though my primary issue at the moment is with you, if you'll notice, except for the fact that you were the one who put her in charge. Walk away; I don't care. If it means we're rid of Taikrin, I'll take it. People've tried to reason with her, and she won't listen. What other options do we have?"

Anger threading through into her voice, Aishani nonetheless can keep it low, telling K'del, "You make it sound like it's some minor political issue, some little ''disagreement''. That's the most insulting thing, you know. That you act like it was nothing." The words, what they mean, even though she hasn't voiced the main issue, seem to have left a bad taste in her mouth; when the waiter drops the drink and runs, she has to take a sip and let it linger around her tongue, burning it out. Only faintly... hurt, maybe?: "I was listening. I was trying. I was going to--" She'd finish, but then she realizes who she's explaining herself to - and why does she have to do ''that''? "There was no need to let everyone in on our ''business''. Now everyone who wants something is going to start up again if they haven't already. You start with one problem, you make ''thirty''."

"It wasn't nothing. Wasn't even something I ''wanted''," he says, low and dangerous in his own way. "''I'' didn't decide to execute your father. ''I'' didn't want to. Tiriana mocked me for that, for not having the ''guts'', but it haunted my dreams for months, so you can fuck right off." He dismisses the rest of what she says with a roll of his eyes, keeping his gaze lowered towards his drink. "Going to? But you didn't. You let her do what she did, and ''we'' did what we had to. This isn't my rebellion, Aishani, here to piss you off because I don't like you. This isn't 'K'del is a sore loser' or 'K'del doesn't like Aishani and Taikrin'. Do you think I do it lightly? Do you think I ''want'' to see my home torn apart? I didn't start this, but I'll see it through. That's what happens, sometimes. You have to do distasteful things. You deal." That's when he stands, taking his drink with him.

There's something like a flinch, at the idea of dreams - Aishani knows something about those by her reaction, probably about her father and ''this place''; who knows what she thought of it as a child? There's not much she has to say to that - K'del's said things like it before, but it's entirely possible that it's the first time she's actually heard it. And so she actually listens to the rest, for all that it's difficult for her, that the effort to not just sneer and ignore him is visible. Slowly, "I think that I've been ready for that for a long time. But I don't know if you are. Maybe this won't be my problem in a turn. But it will still be a problem. Like with Iolene, a line has been crossed... and the longer it goes, the harder it'll be to reverse the process." As he stands, she looks up and pauses. "I don't know if I think that's a bad thing, so it's the last time I'll say it. And so help me, if Cadejoth has failed to catch all these other times only to win Iesaryth, I will not be responsible for my actions." Just to be clear, but he survived Tiriana. How bad can it be? Ahaha. Eh.

K'del's answer, this time, is quite simple: "You don't know much about me, Aishani." Of the rest-- he can only shake his head, except to add, over his shoulder as he wanders off, "Believe me when I say I'd rather ''not'' wake up in your bed. But I'll break ''N'rov's'' nose on my way, if I need to. Because I ''will'' do what I need to to fix this Weyr, whatever it takes." Even the unthinkably gross. "Do give him my regards? You must be so proud."

"That's ''exactly'' how I'd put it." Proud, no - not so much. Aishani might be getting over it, but she's definitely not ''totally'' over it as she looks into her glass dourly rather than at K'del's back as he heads off. After all of that, it won't take her long to finish that second drink and clear out, off to spread sunshine and joy somewhere else in the Weyr.
