History. Boring. More boring than boring. N’ky has no head for remembering dates and places and people and the things they did, and, try as he might, he just can’t concentrate. Especially so today, with it being such a gorgeous day outside, and with Cailluneth filling his head with the warm swirls of the ‘Reaches summer – heat, scents, the feeling of sunshine on her hide, all painting a whirling, tempting tableau of what he’s missing by being stuck behind a desk.

And the Harper just keeps droning on, and on, and on…

N’ky picks up his pen, dips it into ink, and begins scratching down a timeline of events, as dictated by the Harper.

Dragon> Rasavyth's tenor is amused, but there's an undercurrent of panic and urgency. It's not ''his'' panic or urgency, but identifiably K'zin's. << Cailluneth, Quinlys is on her way to my K'zin's press to retrieve his study books. Would your N'ky please do him the great favor of collecting those items from his press and meeting her with them so she has no need to see my K'zin's very creative artwork? Dragon> The head suddenly fades from his mind, replaced with the swirling grey that represents Rasavyth –tinged with K’zin’s cinnabar-gold. Cailluneth relays the message in the way she knows best; a whirl of colours that could be construed as meaningless to anyone but her and her heart.

Dragon> Cailluneth responds with warm curiosity, spring green smoke brought to shimmering life by the amusement of her moonlight silver. A ripple of silver is a reflection of laughter, the pattern echoing that of N'ky's own, though there’s a slight reflection of K'zin's panic edging her thoughts, as the emotion is reciprocated. A double-thudded heartbeat complies, reassurance a comforting blanket of downy white. << My heart says yours owes him. >> Husky words, laced with amusement. (Cailluneth to Rasavyth)

“Um, s-sir?” N’ky raises his hand, interrupting the string of dates and who-did-whats. “I’ve, um… g-gotta ''go''.”

Without waiting to be excused, the leggy weyrling gets to his feet and bolts through to the weyrling caverns, with Cailluneth bounding in from the outside to join him. They don’t go to ''their'' couch, but to K’zin’s; Cailluneth spends a happy few moments taking in the scents around them, trotting back and forth and ''sniffing'' anything interesting, translating each into a quick-changing whirl of non-stop colour that begins to fog up N’ky’s mind.

“Cai! Not helping.”

Digging through the press, he finds the text books easy enough, but the rest?

Polite disinterest from Cailluneth; she’s found a particularly strong Rasavyth scent that she’s busy breathing in deeply.

By the time he’s found them ''all'', N’ky’s got a pile of sketchbooks almost too high for him to carry.

He settles the history books on the flat of her back between her wings, then darts through to their own couch to drop the rest of the notebook booty into his own press.

And then he stumbles back out, grabs the history books from the patiently-waiting Cailluneth, ''just'' in time to see Quinlys arrive.

“W-Weyrlingmaster Quinlys! ''H-here''…”
