| log = Mutterings and rumors have been abounding, but on day 5 of month 11, High Reaches Weyr is home to a strange phenomenon: riders, of all colors, and spanning almost all, if not all, wings can be seen sitting out on their ledges with their dragons doing... absolutely nothing. Not moving, not eating, not participating in any of their assigned wing activities. Most of the Alpine wing is accounted for, with bronzerider J'rell among them, leaving little to question who may have orchestrated this demonstration. After about midday, it's spread that this supposed 'sit in' is being called a peaceful protest of the way the Weyr's been run lately, including Iolene's leadership. It doesn't feel like this will be the last.

It doesn't take long for there to be a response to the sit-in participants: long before much of the weyr is properly aware of what they're trying to do and why, High Reaches' queens have moved into action to break up the protest (in their own, varied ways, some more immediately effective than others). As the morning wears on, the wings are set to their usual tasks, under supervision of their Wingseconds, while the Wingleaders meet in the Council Chambers with K'del.

The details of what is discussed is never formally distributed, but it's not hard to pick up all the same. High Reaches' Wingleaders deal with their protesting wingriders in different ways, all according to their wont - though, interestingly, all have been punished for failing to show up to duties rather than protesting. Some find themselves on watchrider duty; some have laps to run or extra duties to fulfil; some, including the scant few in Avalanche, don't seem to be being punished at all, with K'del never once mentioning the action.

What next? It's hard to imagine that this will be the end of it all, even if a number of those involved have thought better of it.
