-Edyis listened carefully to her stepmother, quietly considering the full impact of the choice that lay ahead of her and what it would mean for her future, and the future of her siblings. Most of her older siblings were either at the Craft Hall or married. Her younger siblings, however, still depended on Gretvyn's ability to stretch the budget until winter was over. Using what was set aside for Edyis' dowry would help them get through winter by the skin of their teeth, especially with one less mouth to feed. If Edyis impressed she wouldn't need a dowry anyway. Gretvyn wasn't cold, just practical.
