Dragon> Plainly, the question surprises Olveraeth, whose constellations reassemble themselves into a more thoughtful arrangement. << You mean, >> he supposes after a few moments, << Whether one's rider might pursue-- ''continue'' to pursue-- his or her craft. Dragon> The first category, Vadevjiath dashes away into the rocks; they aren't even worth a cursory consideration, to him. His own rider's judgmentalness bleeds through. For the matter of the crafts' own reactions, however, Olveraeth nets only confusion from the younger dragon. << They would have to be fools or worse, to not recognize--to throw away a valuable prize. Dragon> To Vadevjiath, Olveraeth considers this, all of it, without judgement. << When you have finished your training, >> he says, not so much 'warning' as 'reminder,' << It is something you may pursue. Dragon> To Olveraeth, Vadevjiath is too young to really hide his feelings: dutiful he may strive to be, but there's a fierceness under there all the same, visible in a couple of dischordant twangs that buzz amongst the stars for only an instant before he silences it. << Maybe so, >> he concedes the one point. But the idea that they may not have Rafe back at all? << But those with vision will win. How could we not convince them? >>

Dragon> To Vadevjiath, Olveraeth manages not to show amusement, nor is he patronising. << I believe in you, >> he says, firmly. << You will do your very best. But first: first you must complete ''your'' training. >>

Dragon> As goal-oriented as Vadevjiath is already proving to be, it's no surprise that this direction is tattooed onto his mind just as surely: step one in what's surely a long-range (if barely yet conceived) plan. << We won't disappoint you. >> (To Olveraeth from Vadevjiath)

Dragon> To Vadevjiath, Olveraeth's star-field stretches out forever; he can accept these long-range plans. That's what life is for, is it not? << I do believe you're right, >> agrees the blue, sagely. << I expect great things. >>

Dragon> For some, that expectation might weight heavily; but Vadevjiath reaches for it instead, a mantle taken up, even as he withdraws his touch from the elder blue's mind. He's young, and sleep is coming on again: planning is very hard work indeed. (To Olveraeth from Vadevjiath)
