|log=The day following Zaisavyth's flight and Mirinda's rise to Seniorship of Fort, Hattie and N'muir are seen moving everything out of the Weyrwoman's weyr, all of their possessions already packed and collected up in so efficient a way that they must have been planning and sorting for several days prior. However, rather than move their belongings into one of the empty junior weyrs, the former Weyrleaders load up Elaruth and Bijedth with as much as they can carry and begin making trips Between. It's on their fourth journey, accompanied by their children, Harriet in her mother's arms and Tabitha assisting her step father with the younger ones, that they don't return. Via dragon, word soon spreads that the whole family has moved to Southern Weyr, where they'll be quarantined in their new home as a precautionary measure. Given Hattie's all too evident grief and N'muir's past health issues, perhaps the South will be good for them both.

It's on this same day that it's heard that the Weyrlingmaster has fallen ill, Ebeny's symptoms already rather advanced, maybe owing to her delicate state of health. Laurienth's fear is, as ever, not a quiet thing, and is perhaps made worse when her rider chooses to surrender her knot, though whether it's for fear that she and her unborn child are going to die, or determination to live and focus on the bringing the child to term is never quite made clear.
