|log=Possibly just the luck of the draw, or some angel looking down on Silva for once, she has drawn a duty that does ''not'' elicit complaints. A basket of clothing is settled next to the table she has commandeered for this patch work. A critical eye looks over the worn clothing. "No, that just ''won't'' do. Patches? Seriously? No. No, no, no." She's talking to herself, and picks up a pair of scissors. Now... where to start cutting...

It's early in the day, and Edyis makes her way into the bathing caverns, already loosing her braid and fingers going to the flaps on the flightjacket. Ink-dark eyes focus at the mutterings, and the Snowdrift rider steps over curious. "I'm actually terrified of asking, but I feel obligated. Does whoever those clothes belong to know you are about ready to make them into confetti?"

Scissors poised just about to cut into the cloth Silva pauses, head coming up to focus on the rider. A bright smile pins itself onto her face, "No, silly. Of ''course'' I'm not going to turn them into confetti. But seriously," setting down the scissors Silva draws the gray shirt up so that Edyis can ''clearly'' see what a terrible garment is, "You have got to agree it needs some serious ''help''."

"First question answered, second question... not." Edyis notes with a tired rub of her face. "Most folks don't appriciate unsolicited fashion advice, they expect a quick mend job and to have things returned." Intact seems to be the implicit implication. "Silva, isn't it?" Trying to pull from memory," A glance thrown at the knot."

The implicit instruction to leave the poor garment alone, goes ignored, or perhaps it just flies right over Silva's head. A blink suggests it might be closer to the second, and Silva glance at the shirt again. "I'm sure that whomever owns this will be ''very'' happy to have it fixed. I mean. It's ''pretty'' much only good enough for rags ''now''." At least the taking has kept her from actually making a hole in the garment beyond the ones already there. "You got me!" A ''very'' belated salute gets sketched off, Silva grinning broadly. Turning slightly the glowlight catches strangely on her cheek, a slightly darker place covered up with copious amounts of makeup in an attempt to make it look normal.

Edyis exhales then, "You've never lived in a Weyr before have you." At least she doesn't sound angry, just, tired. "And trust me, from personal experience, you don't want to be the sort of person who acts like they know better than damn near everybody else." She throws a glance over the mending pile. "Usually it's better to ask before you get all scissor happy. Why are you doing this in here anyway, wouldn't it be easier to take it to the commons room?"

"You know, a lot of people have asked that." Silva's tone has overlays of 'there there', like she's comforting the woman in her tiredness. "But nope! I'm from," and then her lips zip shut as if a cord has been tied. Plastering a bright smile Silva shakes her head, "No, see, I had to ''move'' it there first, and like... what's the point of that? I can just do it right here." Less work, see?

Edyis says, "Your from?" Yeah she caught that, and a brow lifts at the answer. "Weyrs get most of what they have from holder tithes, stipends aren't much. Unless you figure out a way to earn a few marks on the side, most folks save a bit. That shirt ''could'' be someone's turns of saved stipends. You can't just go out and purchase a new one from the weaverhall on a whim. You learn to take care of what you have, make it last.""

Just sail riiigghhttt past that slip of the tongue, right? RIGHT. "Well, this person hasn't." Silva's tone is firm as she sticks a finger up through several small holes. "Honestly, if something ''drastic'' doesn't happen, this is just going to fall apart on them no ''matter'' how much sewing I do on it."

Edyis shrugs, "Better to follow the instructions your given, but it's your canidacy." The brownrider states heading off to the pools to take care of actual bathing. That serving as her farewell.
