 At the end of turn 38, things took a turn for the worse when M'kris was publicly accused of killing R'hin-- the same bronzerider whose bronze had caught Zaisavyth in her first flight, all those turns before. In the immediate aftermath, Oriane stepped down, putting Mirinda in the unenviable position of adjudicating over her own father. Oriane would likely never understand, but Mirinda was firm in her resolve to step aside for another; for Monaco's sake, it was necessary, even if her own dragon railed at the idea.

+Months later, amidst the plague that spread across the northern continent, the Weyr Council chose to name the next junior queen to rise as Weyrwoman to Fort, where the leadership was presently in turmoil. Despite having had no expectations (or desire) for the role, it was scarcely a matter of weeks before Zaisavyth showed signs of proddiness.
