When they say people have a right to a speedy trial, they probably don't <br />
mean this. Barely two weeks after their captures, High Reaches' raiders <br />
have been found unaminously guilty of crimes against Weyr and Hold, with <br />
sentencing to be carried out immediately. <br />
<br />
The morning of the 17th day was spent busily transferring prisoners about.<br />
The low-level dupes, like that Jamden kid the Weyr already caught once, <br />
were sent to Crom and its mines to work a few years, while the higher-ups <br />
in the organization--the inner council and recruiters like the kid's <br />
uncle--received life sentences to those mines. For however long or short <br />
the rest of their lives might be. <br />
<br />
As for the ringleader of the whole operation? Rajiv's sentence was carried<br />
out in the afternoon, after all his cronies had been disposed of. Just <br />
outside the Weyr, Rajiv Vijay's final tirade against the Weyr was cut <br />
short by a sudden drop: hung by the neck until dead. <br />
<br />
And somewhere in the midst of all these criminals being put away, one man <br />
was released. Chedayi, a low-level Vijay sent to the mines for crimes <br />
against the Weyr which have since been reattributed to Rajiv, was pardoned<br />
before the day was out. <br />
