 Once upon a time, there was a little girl named Dyana who was the niece of Misty Hold. She was pretty and dimpled and loved parties and pretty things - and hated fish. Fish, salt, the ocean itself, boats; there was, indeed, nothing about her home Hold that she liked, except perhaps that they were prosperous enough that she could have those pretty things, even if the salt and sea tended to stain her silks and ruin her hair.

She was charmed by the teenage Tom and fell head over heals for him; that infatuation rather died down in the turns that followed, after her pregnancy, their hasty marriage, and the death of her newborn son. A sweet, gentle girl, she would have loved nothing more than to have more children, but there were none. Their marriage ended after some six turns, for reasons that no one has been quite willing to explain. Ani was very quiet on the subject; she's now dead.
