Description

Sharp angles and strong muscles define the hard, lean body, a portrait of a young man's athleticism from the breadth of shoulder down the length of his lean height. His features are bold, almost aristocratic; strong lines of cleanly angled cheekbones, fierce jaw, and dimpled chin. The dark flare of eyebrows accentuates warm eyes the color of klah that softens his features: inviting and bright, they seem to hold an amusement of their own. A shadow lines along his jaw, a day's growth often present even where his dark hair is kept short.

History

An only child, Perseid was born to a small cotholder and his wife in the bounds of Tillek Hold. In a complicated childbirth and too far from a regular healer to be of any help, Perseid's mother was one of the unlucky ones who did not live through her pregnancy. Whether it was for love, or simply love of being alone and without the bother of women around, Perseid's father never remarried, instead, doting on his son and spoiling him through childhood and into his teenage years.

That is not to say that Perseid was happy with their lonely life on their cothold, instead seeking family and warmth elsewhere. Adjacent to their own, another grape-grower had a family of nine children, and a son near his own age, Kasadel, who he became fast friends with. Often, he would spend much of his time at their cothold rather than his own.

Perhaps it was this tendency to spend his time elsewhere that meant that Perseid never felt a bond to his land, standing to inherit the cothold but not caring anything for it. He became quickly dissatisfied when his friend Kasadel moved away, finding little excitement in his own life. For a time, he was sent to foster at Tillek Hold, but was often recalled by his father in the hopes that he would show some interest in their farming.

Finally, with the help of Tillek's Lordholder's suggestion of needing someone with Tillek interests in mind at High Reaches Weyr and knowing his childhood connection to the current Weyrleader, his father has reluctantly agreed to sending him to the Weyr.
