| It's not really the done thing, to reach allllll the way back from Nabol to report news, but it's big news, and Kiamyth can be excitable. « Nabol is dead! » she tells the Weyr. « And the man says he was murdered and we need to find the Lady because she did it, he's sure and she's missing and it's suspicious. » (To High Reaches dragons from Kiamyth) To High Reaches dragons, Rasavyth's oozy interest is captivated. The ooze is usually available anywhere it's sought, but in this moment, all of his attention is given over to the excited Kiamyth and her captivating words. How is it an entire territory can be killed? It's the first thought that filters through those steady drums until-- Oh. « Is he. » Hraedhyth questions, not nearly as excitable, and perhaps not realizing how dire the death of Lord Nabol is. The queen will agree, « It is suspicious. » It takes a moment longer, floral incense thrown into the fire, along with a spray of sand that is not her own. « We hear the man. » The one Kiamyth speaks of. « The Lady must be found, for her safety. » And also-- because it is suspicious. « We hear the man. » But there is no promise of action, not yet. (To High Reaches dragons from Hraedhyth) The ocean's wash is distant, as it is when Iesaryth is dozing, but Kiamyth's excitement is enough to rouse her slowly. There's the scent of sea-salt on the air as she shifts her attention there, curious. Idle even in her inquiries, « Has the Lady not been gone for some time? » How much time, that's for the riders to sort out. « Would she not need to be there? » Even so, it's Hraedhyth's words that are the last ones on this subject, though she seems more suspicious of the suspicion. (To High Reaches dragons from Iesaryth) To High Reaches dragons, Kiamyth, it's true, may be a little confused, but she's sure as sure can be that she's not. « He says it was slow poison, and that she ran to cover her tracks! And that even if she is pregnant it's not the Lord's because that man is-- oh, now I'm confused. » The green attempts to shake her thoughts straight again, and concludes. « The man will send a letter with us. My C'pri says it will be clearer, then. » To Kiamyth, Rasavyth's touch reaches to Kiamyth softly, curiously. « What confuses you, Kiamyth? » Ever the helpful dragon, he lends his clever wits. Even if there is that little wrong edge. To Rasavyth, Kiamyth pays no real attention to that edge, not when she's in a position where she gets to relate something interesting. « The man says the Lord could never have flown the Lady because he was old and sick. And the other man says she must have been flown by someone else if at all, and C'pri says they were rude about it, like it was a bad thing to be flown. And now they're saying it was all a plot and she's a Bad Person and they want to interrogate her people and make them say things. » It's a long, rambling, stream-of-consciousness explanation. It's terribly confusing. To Kiamyth, anyway. To Kiamyth, Rasavyth's ooze bubbles appreciatively at how very interesting Kiamayth's words are, indeed! « Do they know where the Lady is now? Will the interrogation be allowed? Who is claiming leadership now? » The bronze sends more than one question in a tentative fashion. He's known dragons who get confused when multiple pieces of information are requested at once; is Kiamyth one such when she's excited? Surprisingly, having direct questions to answer seems to work better for Kiamyth, however many there are. « They don't know. She's missing. If they find her... » It's hard to tell what they will do; Kiamyth doesn't specify. But she doesn't like it much. On the other hand... « They say she did awful things. The man is claiming to be the next Lord, » she doesn't know his name, but he doesn't seem all that much younger than Ustelan was, given the image she offers, « but people keep talking for him, and he got confused, too. » (To Rasavyth from Kiamyth) Upon Rasavyth's web of ooze unfurls a beautiful tapestry. Kiamyth might be permitted this view of the bronze's tracking of Holder Bloodlines because she's at Nabol, now, or simply because he's more interested in looking himself at the possibilities of who it might be. Most are only names, with generic black and white silhouettes in place above the name, but some few have faces, like Devaki and Issedi, but that's far along on the Reaches side of the map. And oh, how some of those lines there crisscross and tangle. Rasavyth's focus is on the 'Nabol' section. « Who is with the man who makes these claims? Those who help him stay not confused? » His curiosity continues as he examines Ustelan's complicated lineage. (To Kiamyth from Rasavyth) To Rasavyth, Kiamyth doesn't know, she /doesn't know/, except - oh! « The man who gave the letter to my C'pri is /Rone/. » But that's not the man taking charge; that's a different man. They're confusing, and honestly, she doesn't find people (except /her/ person) all that interesting. « I don't know if they all acknowledge him. It's confusing. And some people keep talking about how he really did name an heir, and... isn't it strange? Our way is simpler. » The name is taken and filed carefully. His sympathy comes, « It is quite confusing. Our way is much better. It's a shame they mate so frequently and with no care for creating the strongest and best offspring. » (To Kiamyth from Rasavyth) To Rasavyth, Kiamyth agrees. Wholeheartedly, even! « We're coming home now, » she reports. « With a /letter/. » But not, sadly, for Rasavyth. No letters for Rasavyth! To Kiamyth, Rasavyth is duly saddened that the he doesn't get something nearly so exciting as a letter, but there's still the glow of appreciation for the story Kiamyth has told him of her time in Nabol. |
