Description

Short, dark, athletically built, Xansa is a woman who exudes confidence and strength, yet does so without losing any of her femininity. Black hair just grazes her waistline when worn loose, cut in a gently layered style to frame her face. A strong, triangular jawline is softened by full cheeks, her mouth full-lipped but not pouty. Her nose is short, round at the tip and wide through the nostrils. Eyes that tilt faintly downward at the outer corners can give her an air of sadness at times, enhanced by the softness of dark brown irises that are often mistaken as black. Her eyebrows have very little arch, slanting subtly above her eyes, their naturally low set adding breadth to her brow.

History

Xansa was born and raised (mostly) at High Reaches Weyr, middle (but only true; all her 'siblings' are fosters) daughter of storeskeeper Aslaina -- now retired due to failing eyesight. Due to her resemblance, it's largely accepted that her father is N'irem, a brownrider from Igen Weyr, though initial uncertainty as to paternity is why she lacks a traditional name.

Hers was the typical weyrbrat upbringing, with winters spent with her father at Igen between the ages of 8 and 14. At 14 she decided she wanted to live at Igen permanently. While there she was at first something of an assistant's assistant, a sort of trial situation as she was generally deemed irresponsible thanks to the various troublesome antics she had a habit of getting into during her winter visits. She managed to prove herself a steadier and more level-headed teen, and by 16 was officially knotted as an assistant headwoman there.

She was quite happy there, but as her mother's eyesight began to worsen, when she was 20 she reached the decision that it would be better for her to return to High Reaches so that she would be on hand to help care for Aslaina. Given her satisfaction with the work, upon her return she sought to resume her life there as an assistant headwoman, balancing those duties with caring for her mother.
