Your location's current time: 13:39 on day 28, month 4, Turn 60, of the Tenth Pass. It is a spring afternoon.

You meander towards the lake shore. Lake Shore, High Reaches Weyr This shoreline marks the edge of the freshwater lake that fills the southeastern portion of the bowl. The gritty dirt of the bowl gives way to smooth sand. Across the lake, the bowl wall rises high into the sky, its face dotted with weyr entrances. A few dragonlengths above the water, glimpses of a level cliff can be seen amidst boulders lining the edge. Just south of here, a smaller pond of water is divided from the main lake by a natural bridge of land. A path leads across the bridge and up to the diving cliffs, winding through a dotting of small boulders on its way. The afternoon is clear and the sun shines brightly. There is a strong breeze that creates ripples upon the lake. Contents: M'wen W'red Shanlee Tavrie Obvious exits: LAke Pond Diving Cliff Bowl

Sitting down next to the girls, W'red chuckles, "You don't have to swim to be clad in bikini's you know, it just makes the whole area easier on the eyes." He looks around, a grin plastered on his face, "How drab it is, A few skimpily clad girls would certainly brighten it up." He idly looks out at the young dragons splashing in the lake.

Shanlee glances at Tavrie and returns the grin then makes a play of swatting at W'red, "He's male what do you expect Tavrie?" she chuckles. The green weyrling leans her head back and closes her eyes, enjoying the warm sun "I'm surprised Kaylith hasn't gone all wrinkly with the amount of time she spends in the water." the last words almost lost in a voice made lazy by the sun. "It's nice to have a break and spend some time together just relaxing. Seems like ages since we last managed to."

Tavrie goes red in the cheeks at W'red's words, unable to help herself. She tips her head forward a bit so that her hair hangs over her face a bit, hiding her blush. "I don't know, really," she replies, obviously not knowing what she should expect from him. Tavrie sighs and props her head in her hands, leaning on her knees again. "I don't get guys," she mutters and then grins at Nabrimeth, who appears to be having a blast in the water. "Nabrimeth handles the water so well. Though, she's really not that ungainly on land. At least compared to what I had expected," she changes the subject.

R'hin's approach is presaged by a shadow from above: Leiventh gliding across the bowl towards the lake, taking advantage of the spring thermals rising above the water to circle lazily. R'hin, more thoroughly earth bound, follows at an easy pace, and in no great hurry, the front of his shirt partially unlaced in deference to the warm weather. Hands are shoved into his pockets, and he's whistling faintly as he moves in Leiventh's wake.

W'red laughs, "Anything I do you blame on me being male, that's a bit of a cop out isn't it." W'red sighs and leans back too relaxing a little, "Relaxing is a privelege with that lot around," indicating towards the water splashing dragons in the lake. W'red closes his eyes and allows the warm rays of the sun to ease him into some sort of half sleepiness.

In the lake, Kaylith brings her tail right up against her flank before snaking it out again, scooping up water and flicking it in Nabrimeth's direction. The green, ducks under the water and disappears for a while, leaving behind no more than ripples on the surface. Suddenly she pops up in front of Tavaith spraying a mawful of water up at him. Shan lowers her voice "Aw W'red's okay Tavrie, just likes to tease is all - he means no harm." the weyrling assures, winking at W'red as she speaks "And I would be wrong in my assessment in this case would I?" a raised eyebrow ends the query to the brown weyrling. "They are more graceful in the water, though I can't wait to see them in the skies." at that comment Shan looks upward, as a shadow falls across them and recognises the bronze shape. Turning her head slightly the redhead spots the Weyrleader, "Are we supposed to be lazing about like this?" she whispers to Tavrie.

"Yeah, in the sky," the young woman mutters in an absent reply. Tavrie appears to have drifted off into thought, probably off flying with Nabrimeth somewhere. Shanlee's words startle her back to reality again and her head jerks up to look the adult bronze. In the water, Nabrimeth is looking in the same direction, until she finds herself warbling a gugly greeting to the newcomer through a facefull of water. Tavrie snaps her head around, cheeks clear of her embarrassment now, and gawks at R'hin rather stupidly. In a matter of seconds, she hops back up to her feet. "Sir," she greets him before realizing her skirt needs straightened to keep it decent. Now she goes red in the cheeks again and brushes down the clingy, sand-speckled fabric.

Leiventh> To you, Leiventh projects, « They grow fast, » the bronze says, musingly as he studies the younger dragons. « Soon they will be up here, with me. »

Striding in from the direction of the bowl, only heartbeats after the Weyrleader is noticed by the weyrlings, M'wen alters his course slightly to rendezvous with the small group. As he approaches closer, an easy gait and cheerful tune being lightly hummed would suggest the assistant weyrlingmaster is in a good mood. He throws a half wave, half salute towards the weyrlings and a friendly smile as he approaches.

It doesn't seem at first as if R'hin's even noticed the weyrlings, though Leiventh's low rumble of greeting to the young dragons from above undoubtedly draws his attention to the antics in the lake. The Weyrleader's lips curl upwards into a grin, pausing to watch the dragons with a keen eye. "Soon," he murmurs under his breath, with a glance slanted upwards. His stroll resumes towards the group of weyrlings, though he doesn't look to be in any great hurry. "Afternoon," he greets the grouping with a casual nod to the whole. Though it'd be hard to miss Tavrie's fluster, he makes no particular acknowledgement of it, other than a quick grin and: "Don't get up on my account. It's the perfect afternoon for sunbathing." A glittering of pale eyes suggests it wasn't far from the bronzerider's mind, either - pausing to turn and offer a sharp salute to M'wen, in contrast to the casual greeting of the others.

The feeling of a cloud passing overhead, a bit quickly, has W'red opening one eye lazily, "Mmm," is all he answers to Shan's question, "Flying must only be mentioned in hushed tones around Tavaith or I'll end up in a never ending argument with him about why he can't." Hearing Shan's whispered query to Tavrie, W'red is snatched from his reverie, as the Weyrleader approaches, he gets to his feet, and gives a smartish salute, could've been better but that's no matter now, "Sir" & "Sir" as the assistant weyrlingmaster also approaches. At the invitation of the Weyrleader W'red sits again.

As Tavrie scrambles to her feet, Shan sits upright. Too late to even pretend she was doing anything more than the little she was. The green weyrling offers a salute in any event to both the Assistant Weyrlingmaster and the Weyrleader "Afternoon Sirs." The redhead wraps her arms around her knees and smiles up at them "Lovely day to be outside isn't it?" Kaylith bugles a welcome to the big bronze, paddling around in a circle, neck craned back to watch as he glided above them in the sky.

Tavrie tosses out a crisp salute now that her skirt is settled and grins sheepishly at R'hin. Then, she peers around him and her eyes lock on M'wen. "Afternoon, sir," she tells him without taking her eyes off of him. This said, her gaze lingers a moment before she turns sharply and sits back down. Face shrouded by hair againand her chin on her knees. Nabrimeth is still shaking the water out of her face, rumbling in frustration since her brilliant greeting was gargled.

Leiventh> Nabrimeth, Tavaith, and Kaylith sense that Leiventh's tones are rumbling approval, « You grow fast and well, » he says, as if they've had some kind of input into that.

Leiventh, Nabrimeth, and Tavaith sense that Kaylith warbles « Thank you Leiventh. » the young voice swirls and rises with pleasure.

Leiventh and Tavaith sense that Tavaith Bugles a greeting to Leiventh, « Growing, yes but not flying. » The distinctive rumble of bass drums shows Tavaith's displeasure.

Leiventh glides lower and lower in the sky, closer to where the weyrling dragons are in the lake, watching them with no less intensity than R'hin was. It appears at first as if he intends to join them in the water, but a last minute sweep of large wingspan takes him upwards again, high enough to catch the thermals and resume lazy glide. His circle is tighter now, however, almost directly above the smaller dragons. "Indeed it is," R'hin answers Shanlee with a grin, "And you're probably not the only one to think so. They look well," he nods towards the lake and the dragons therein. After a moment, the Weyrleader, too, glances at M'wen, though undoubtedly for different reasons, an enigmatic smile offered.

Leiventh> Maxeoth senses that Leiventh's mindtones are distant, disinterested himself as he passes on the query: « R'hin is curious as to whether you've taken on board his advice yet. »

Leiventh, Nabrimeth, and Kaylith sense that Tavaith Bugles a greeting to Leiventh, « Growing, yes but not flying. » The distinctive rumble of bass drums shows Tavaith's displeasure.

Leiventh, Tavaith, and Kaylith sense that Nabrimeth's voice flows in with a delicate rustle and warm feelings of joy and pride. <> is noted jovially in low, soothing tones. <> is then added along with her first thoughts. <>

Leiventh> I bespoke Nabrimeth, Tavaith, and Kaylith with « Soon, » comes the reassuring tones of the bronze, reasoned and calm, mental tones unruffled. « The skies will be yours, and no one will deny you. »

In the lake, Kaylith briefly halts her circular paddling and regards the big bronze carefully as he dips then rises again above them. A wistful look whirls through the green's eyes, as she raises her wings clear of the water. However, it's not long before her sense of fun returns and the lifted wings coming surging down to send showers of water of her brown and gold siblings. Shan squints up at R'hin, eyes flicking upward to Leiventh before replying a note of pride in her voice "They grow stronger everyday - and more confident it seems." Bringing her gaze back down again, Shan raises a hand in farewell as the brown weyrling pair leave "Bye W'red - Tavaith."

Leiventh and Nabrimeth sense that Kaylith croons « Soon.....we will wait - and prepare for that day. » acceptance of this reassurance colours the waters of her voice with cool blues.

"Good day to you all," M'wen replies, having since arrived within a few paces of where the weyrlings have decided to sit. "And yes, it is," is replied to the green weyrlings comment, the brownriders head tilted back to look up at the expanse of sky above them. He drops his gaze to look out over the lake at the swimming forms of the small dragons in the lake, a slow ponderous expression on his face. He returns a smile and a raised brow.

Sly, the Weyrleader queries, "The dragons grow more confident, Shanlee? Or the weyrlings?" The deepening grin could suggest he's merely being facetious, though the steady way R'hin looks at Shanlee suggests he seeks an honest response. An even nod is offered to the departing weyrling, thoughtful expression. "Tavaith seems particularly determined, Leiventh says." Uninvited, the bronzerider heads over to take up W'red's spot on the rock, pushing the sleeves of his shirt back as he settles in place.

Tavrie shifts from her seat on the warm sand, following W'red's disappearance with a glance and waving to send him off silently. She then shifts back around to look from Shanlee to R'hin, brows rising curiously at his comment. For now, she waits to see what she has to say about it. In the water, Nabrimeth has set about to show Kaylith how fast she can swim. The gold disappears from sight under the water, ripples left in her stead.

A slow smile spreads itself across Shan's face "Well both, I would imagine, seeing as we are so irrevocably linked. Though are always areas in which we need extra work." returning the Weyrleader's steady look unflinchingly. As R'hin settles himself, the redhead nods "He gives W'red a hard time it seems - we daren't mention the word 'flying' in front of him for fear of setting him off again." A glance upward to M'wen as he studies the dragons at play.

M'wen takes a seat nearby, no more words escaping the brownrider as his gaze remains settled on the dragons at play.

A low-throated chuckle is R'hin's response to Shanlee's quick answer, the Weyrleader amused and pleased alike: "True, indeed, Shanlee. Some take the adjustment better than others, however." It seems an idle comment, though little that comes from this man can truly said to be 'idle'. "Mm. From what I understand, it won't be long. And you'll get your weyrs, too. Me, I'd be more cheered about that than anything. A bit of peace and quiet might be welcome?" There's a slight lilt at the end that turns it into a query, eyes flickering from Shanlee to Tavrie and he relaxes marginally.

Leiventh senses that Maxeoth's thoughts return slowly, seeming to have been taken from his rider almost directly. « He does not know which advice you mean, but to assume, he has not. Though he claims to have reason for it. »

Tavrie answers him first, quick with her thoughts and reply. "It will be nice to, for the first time in my life, have some space that is truly my own. I can't even begin to imagine it, really," she says softly. "At home, I shared a room with my two sisters and we squabled over space a activities a lot," she supplies. "In the resident dorms, it feels like you are always just a moment away from being in someone else's business," she mentions with a grimace. "I've been in only one weyr before - Satiet's. It is amazing to have your own space, to be true. But I think...that before long, despite Nabrimeth's company, I'll feel isolated and lonely. I've just been cramped into people-infested places too long," she surmises with a weak smile, turning her head to direct it at M'wen.

In the lake, Kaylith looks about her for the gold as she disappears , eventually ducking her head under the water and peering about in a show of trying to find her. M'wen's silence catches the green weyrling's attention briefly before turning her attention back to R'hin a thoughtful look in her eyes "Maybe the adjustments just take longer to get used to for some?" a rather open-ended statement at best. "Some personal space will be welcomed." a slow nod of the red head "An area to truly call your...... sanctuary." the tone slightly wistful, the reply simple. Tavrie's reply gets a quick smile "Isolation is only that, if you see it as such - I prefer to see it as space to breathe."

R'hin's silent for a time, before he observes, quietly, "Leiventh missed the company of the other dragons for a while, until he forgot." He leans back until he's reclining on the rock, elbow folded beneath his head, eyes closed against the sunlight. "But, I doubt you'll feel lonely, Tavrie. It's but a short glide - or walk, in your case - to the caverns. And, if you want the company, I'm sure there'd be many happy to oblige." It's all offered casually, with eyes still closed. After a pause, he pushes up onto an elbow, glance slanted to M'wen, silent gaze accompanied by the briefest quirk of lips, before he nods agreement with Shanlee.

Leiventh> Maxeoth senses that Leiventh's amusement is more than likely colored by the sharing of his rider's thoughts, rather than his own opinions on the matter. « Mine says, perhaps it is for the best, that you do not take his advice. »

Tavrie looks at R'hin with round brown eyes, wide with surprise. She shifts her glance right along with his as she takes in his comment and tries to decide how to take it. The evidence of her thoughts can be seen as her eyebrows lift curiously and then furrow. "I...ummm," she manages, blinking several times and coloring slightly. "Well, I'll learn to like it," she notes with a quickly flashed grin. That said, she hops up to her feet and brushes herself off again. "Sirs," she says, offering a salute to both men and then she hurridly waves at Shanlee. "I..I'm gonna go," she mumbles and then walks down to the water's edge, seeming to try and get Nabrimeth out of the water.

Kaylith wades out of the lake, dripping. Kaylith has arrived.

Tracing an idle pattern in the ground with a finger, Shan glances over to her lifemate as she emerges from the Lake dripping all over the place "I'm sure Kaylith wouldn't hesitate to go off visiting her clutchmates if she felt lonely - she doesn't need me to do that." At that moment Kaylith chooses to shake the excess water from her wings, splattering a shower of cold water around. "Kaylith!" a low growl of irritation is uttered as sun warmed skin is rudely cooled "Go do that somewhere else." Tavrie's rising and subsequent farewell diverts Shan's attention from the dripping green momentarily "I'll see you both back at the Barracks then?"

R'hin runs free hand through his hair, head tipped marginally to one side as he takes note of Tavrie's reaction with interest. He doesn't, notably, add anything at her reaction, offering a level nod at the salute, force of habit alone. "Good evening, Tavrie," is all he says. Kaylith's return showers him, also, with cold water, and he offers a wryly damp sort of smile.

Nabrimeth wades out of the lake, dripping. Nabrimeth has arrived.

Kaylith croons a semblance of an apology, with a little whuffling farewell to Nabrimeth before moving off a little ways from the humans. The green holds her wings out slight to dry. "Sorry about that Sir." Shan grimaces at R'hin "She doesn't always realise just how cold humans find the Lake waters."

Nabrimeth isn't far behind Kaylith, though she refrains from shaking. The dragon lowers her head and nudges her rider upon reaching Tavrie, seeming to comfort her lovingly. "Shall we go back to the barracks, or perhaps you'd like something to eat?" the young woman asks aloud as she smooths the young gold's autumnal cheek with a small hand. Nabrimeth rumbles happily. As they turn and head back, Tavrie waves and then smiles at Shanlee. "See you back at the barracks," she affirms.

"No problem at all. It's the perils of interacting with dragons. Comes with the job," R'hin responds in dryly amused tones. He tugs off rather damp shirt, laying it on the rock beside him to dry. Leiventh breaks off his circling as the dragons depart the waters, diving lower and eventually landing on the sand nearer Kaylith, with a small flick of sand.

As Leiventh lands, Kaylith warbles a welcome and settles herself wings tucked close to her sides in the warm sun. Shan chuckles "Well at least it's warm enough that you won't catch a cold." her slim hand indicates the now drying shirt. The weyrling turns toward the two dragons, the large bronze and the tiny green making quite a comical scene. "Well to judge by her Sire there's hope yet, that she'll settle down and take things a little more seriously soon." the lips curve upward in amusement.

"I do like the warmer weather," R'hin confesses with a bland sort of amusement and spread of hands, "Not a small part being able to show off," he admits, a glittering of pale eyes conveying good-humor even while the words are honest. Leiventh settles into the sand, statuesque as normal, half-lidded eyes studying the green for moments before sliding closed against the sunshine. R'hin's eyes are settled on the bronze dragon as Shanlee speaks, a low-voiced chuckle following soon after, "She will, or she won't. It's not a bad thing that she's given to joviality for the moment."

The red head swings back to the Weyrleader, heavy plait swaying against her back. At his words, eyes flick briefly over his form, as a grin forms "Showing off?" she repeats an eyebrow raises in a tease "Well, as always spoken with an open honesty" approval for this trait flecks the tone. "I don't mind that she's so full of fun, but she drives some of the others nuts - Jaireth and Tavaith in particular." Kaylith raises her head slightly and warbles a reproach at the comment before settling it back down and dozing off.

Okay, so there's maybe a little tensing to show off muscles when he's looked at - R'hin can't help it, though he's chuckling as he does so. "I could blame it on being a bronzerider, but that's a cop out, really. I was like this -before- Leiventh." A twitch of lips, as his gaze flickers past the weyrling, to her dragon. "It's not necessarily a bad thing. Don't want some dragons taking themselves too seriously too soon."

Shanlee shakes her head and laughs "Ah yes, very impressive indeed." she notes as R'hin does the whole flexing bit. "I don't think it has much to do with anything other than the fact that you're male really." the light voice still filled with amusement "Before Leiventh? Well then I guess there's no hope for you then." Following R'hin's gaze to her lifemate Shan's face reflects a fondness "She certainly doesn't do that - always can be counted on to lift someone's spirits too."

"Mm. You may be onto something there," R'hin concedes with a rakish grin. "And, it wouldn't be the first time I've been told -that-." Leiventh gives a low rumble, and the Weyrleader grimaces, reaching for his shirt. "I'd forgotten, I've got an afternoon meeting." He tugs the mostly-dry shirt over his head, running a hand through his hair. "I'd best go and try and look respectable." The musing look he gives Shanlee at her latter comment is oddly serious, "That's good. We may need that."

Shanlee says "I do apologise for repeating old words then, Sir - I shall try to be more inventive next time" Shan quips in return. "He's rather a good diary isn't he?" the weyrling notes of Leiventh as R'hin tries to make himself look presentable. Pushing herself up from the ground, Shan dusts her breeches off. Those last words spoken bring a thoughtful expression to her eyes as she offers a hand up to the Weryleader "We'd best be off to, still have some work to do on Kaylith's straps."

"The watchdragon from Nabol just arrived," R'hin confesses. "Leiventh queried him. He's my... diary, until I find a capable assistant to keep my haphazard schedule." It's hard to tell if the Weyrleader's speaking in jest now or not, his gaze on Leiventh with a curl of lips. He gives a nod to Shanlee, then Kaylith. "Have a pleasant afternoon," he says by way of parting, taking off at decent pace across the bowl. Leiventh remains where he is, rumbling in low parting to Kaylith, content to remain sunning on the lake's shore.

Kaylith raises herself reluctantly from her dozing slumber and croons a farewell to the big bronze, waiting patiently for her lifemate. "I see, I'm sure you'll find more than a few willing to help with that task" Shan notes though whether serious or teasing, it's unclear. "Good success with your meeting Sir." the weyrling offers before heading off back to the Barracks, Kaylith traipsing along behind her warbling a running commentary as they go.

"Willing, yes. Suitable, is another matter." R'hin casts a wry sort of smile over his shoulder as he disappears.
