| Later, looking back on the meeting, K'zin will surely note that it helped that he went in pissed. The glare he gave the familiar apprentice choked off any objection he might have made to K'zin, though that he slips out as soon as the bronzerider has cleared the door to tattle is probably no surprise to anyone. "Teris," his baritone is rough. He holds his mug of klah between both hands and nearly against his chest as if now that he's invaded the room, he's trying not to invade her space. His expression is already troubled. The winds of anger have suddenly left his impulsive sail. Curled up and staring off into space, but at least facing him this time, Teris' reaction to the bronzerider's arrival is marked by a shift of her eyes. They flicker after the retreating apprentice and then back to K'zin. Except this time her brows furrow like she's just recognizing him. "Get out." It's quiet but difficult to misinterpret. "I brought you--" K'zin starts, shifting the mug a little out toward her. It's not steaming anymore, but it smells like klah. The bronzerider bites his lower lip. "I'm sorry." He sounds like he means it. There's even a lot of guilt in his eyes and expression. "We can leave, right now." Screw the guards. "I'll take you--" Where? Somewhere. He doesn't know. He hasn't thought, obviously. If Teris were a rational human being capable of parsing his apologies and guilt, she probably wouldn't be getting held against her will in the infirmary right now. K'zin's offer is met with a lunge up and toward him to knock the mug out of his hands. "I said get out!" she screeches. K'zin is hung-over and not expecting it, so there goes the klah, and even as it goes, he's half-shoving past her to try to save it, saying, "The fellis!" It's no use though, the liquid spills across the stone mingling with ... well, who knows what's been on this floor even if the infirmary aides are thorough with their cleaning duties. The what now?! Teris is stunned for just a moment, like her brain isn't really sure she heard what he said because she hates the sight of him so much. But even hatred for the sake of her lost lifemate won't make her cling to her dignity. "No. No!" Teris ends up on the ground, trying to scoop up what she can of the fellis into her palm before she trying to lean down to slurp it off the floor itself. It's probably not going to help Teris hate K'zin less that when she follows it bodily to the ground, he's following her and reaching his strong arms to pull her back, to pull her away. "For fuck's sake," he swears, possibly because he'd like to join her but can't bring himself to. "I'll get you more!" If he can. If. "No!" Teris cries as he pulls her away. She struggles to free herself of his arms, but she's likely never been a physical match to a male dragonrider and she's certainly not now. It doesn't take long for Teris to give up her struggle, though, leaning against K'zin and sobbing despite his mention of getting more. "Do you want to come with me? Now?" Presumably to do something about her incarceration. Nevermind that already the journeyman on duty is headed down the hall to the room and things are about to get a lot stickier if K'zin's intention is to get her out. Teris is still sobbing, so her answer probably doesn't really come out in any intelligible way. But she doesn't shove him away or try to claw his face off, so maybe that means yes? K'zin bumps into the healer entering as he tries to step backward to fish with one hand for the doorknob. The confrontation is brief. Maybe it's that the bronzerider lacks resolve or maybe it's those sips of the fellis laced klah he took, but when he steps out the door, he's alone and the journeyman is taking the goldrider back to the bed. So much for good intentions. "No, no, no," Teris cries desperately as the Journeyman takes her away from the bronzerider. Her crying takes a more anxious turn and by the time K'zin is leaving, alone, she's screaming for him to come back and help her. But it's not long after that her screams turn to blame as they follow him out of the infirmary. |
