In Brief
Headed out of Nabol, an ale brewer/trader's caravan was robbed. Two of the thieving men were spotted and there were suspicions cast on the Vijays. Unfortunately for the thieves, the ale brewer's cousin was a recently graduated-to-wingsecond brownrider at High Reaches Weyr, L'vae, who has started on his own investigation as to the whereabout of his cousin's crates of ale.
What People Know
L'vae: His initial act was to bring to N'thei the news from his cousin of the shipment's theft and relay the possible involvement of the Vijays. (8/21/16) Following the meeting, L'vae is even more convinced that the traders are shady and believes the Weyrleader to be in cahoots with them. People he's talked to about it, afterwards:
- Satiet: (9/11/16) When they run into each other at the Lava Lounge, the Weyrwoman tells L'vae that she and N'thei searched the trader's stores and did not find evidence of the ale. There is mention that the weyrleaders are acting out of concern, for the best interests of the Weyr.
- Milani: (10/1/16) Talking between chores, L'vae puts forth the hypothetical situation of having proof against the traders. She tells him about the list, but is reluctant to say much about N'thei. Later that night, after her scary encounter with the weyrleader, they talk again and Lou fills her in on the ale situation. (11/26/16 and 11/28/16) Later, in the wake of Chedayi's arrest and still without proof, they talk more about what is the right thing to do.
- Leova: (10/6/16) While hanging out in Tillek L'vae confesses that in addition to being worried about the theft of the ale, he's worried about the involvement of N'thei and Satiet. They talk about npcs Sh'dor, S'trun, and I'ro being filled in on the whole story, and about throwing an ale-tasting party for their friends and clutchmates in the interests of getting more taste buds out there "looking." (11/13/16) Meeting at the hot springs, Leova informs L'vae about her recent run-ins with Satiet and Milani. There's also mention of enjoying the ale-tasting.
- Shanlee: (12/1/16) L'vae comes across Shanlee at the star stones and when the ale theft comes up he (perhaps rather cryptically) shares with her his concerns about how the weyrleaders may be accountable. She advises him not to get too far ahead of himself, and warns against thinking too simply in shades of black and white.
