The final meal of the day is inevitably the one that creates the most dishes, so any candidates lucky enough to be assigned dishes for their daily duty are inevitably stuck cleaning them through most of the dinner hour, and possibly, if relief doesn't come, long after. Brieli's looking thrilled to be attached to the sudsy sink today, trying to maneuver a large pan into the water without getting it all over her. Pursing her lips, she looks a little more sweaty and harried than usual - dishes and the tall girl don't mix.

Lirienne is another with that duty - though she'd been sent off for a quick errand - something about the next day's meal. However, all too soon, she is back. After a glance around, she rolls up her sleeves, then moves towards the sink - and while not scrubbing, does take to scrapping the debris off the dishes before stacking them for the actual washer. "Sorry," she offers to the other candidate. "They were, uhm, needing some things from the greenhouse."

The pan manages to slide in without much of a splash, and Brieli blows a lock of dark hair out of her eyes before scrubbing at it, sounding relieved. Glancing towards Lirienne sidelong, she shrugs a little with a smile, noting, "Our fates our not our own - we are but pawns to the whims of kitchen staff. Which is to say, don't worry about it. I don't think I'll miss being wet and wrinkly." A pause before she adds, "I heard a few people saying it's not like to be much longer, so at the very least it'll be back to sewing soon, if nothing else."

Lirienne wrinkles her nose a touch, then offerings a quiet, "Well, I /have/ seen riders cleaning their dragons," she points out logically enough, before frowning at a bit of dried on goop, before finding a spoon to start prying at it. "It seems like it has, well, gone quicker this time."

Brieli has to admit, "That's a point. I have to think that might feel more rewarding. Or at least, warmer?" The tunnels aren't always the warmest to do squelching through. Lifting the pan to inspect it with a critical eye, "Does it? Did it seem slower last time or is it just... quicker? And - I mean, that is, if you don't mind my asking - was it difficult to decide to do again?" The pan passes muster; it's set to dry.

Lirienne bites her lip a moment, then lifts a shoulder, "Well, part of is is, well, probably because I started later this time. And... I had to ask advice - that was one of the reason I was spending time in the dragon infirmary," she admits, before putting the pot with goop aside so she can scrap a small pile of plates. "This time, hm.. I guess it's not as scary?" She pauses, then adds, "More in control, if that makes any sense."

The plates are easier going - it's a simple enough thing to scrub them down and put them in the rack, one by one. Brieli grins a touch at Lirienne's explanation, agreeing, "Starting later would do it, yes. And advice helped make it an easier decision, perhaps less scary?" Considering the sudsy water as she cleans the plates to gleaming white, "If you asked, if you made the decision yourself, it makes complete sense that you should feel more in control. This is what you've chosen. Well, not the dishes, but."

"Better dishes that Thommy," Lirienne says, in a somewhat dire voice. "Crech duty, ugh," the shudder is, mostly, faked, "Uhm.. well, E'gin suggested knowing the good and the bad. And, hm, well, I'm a healer. Not much of one.. but still - so I got to see the dragons and riders while... well, discomforted." Ah, thicktail. "It helped to give me an idea of how they act. Besides on the Sands - you do know to remain aware during that, right?" she asks, turning to look at Brieli.

"Hm. Interesting. He seemed more positive, I thought - but I only spoke to him once. Iolene said something similar... but she filled in a few of the blanks for me." Brieli dumps that goo-filled pot in to soak, most of the dishes now cleaned and being dried by the other candidates working away. Lifting brows slightly as she looks to Lirienne, "I suppose that makes sense. I got the idea that Impression is difficult on levels beyond physical as well. And... I think I get the idea - keep your eyes and ears open and stay out of the way?"

"Oh, he was, in fact he insisted I poison him," Liri rushes to reassure, not quite thinking about what she's said, before nodding.. "Well, I've *gulp* also spent time at the Feeding Pens - and sometimes, help washing the dragons is useful," she adds.

Completely confused, "I'm sorry, poison him? Insisted?" Brieli doesn't look reassured, nor does she look sure that she should be feeling reassured by Lirienne's poisoning of riders. "And yes, I remember we were both there the other day. Is it helpful? In learning to stay out of the way? Or just being comfortable around them? I'm still a bit nervous, I admit."

"Ah... as a way to build confidence, or so he said," Liri semi-explains, before lifting a hand and shaking it a little bit, "Well, I don't think eating could be any more..." gruesome, horrible, evil, ".. surprising, so that is a help. And just knowing some of the problems is too. If I know thicktail is possible, it won't surprise me so much if it happens."

Lifting her brows, Brieli doesn't ask Lirienne to explain any further, just going back to attack the pot and admitting, "I'd thought I'd seen a lot, heard of a lot, so draconic eating habits wouldn't shock me. The other night? Was fairly awful. I wonder if they all enjoy it like that." With a shudder, she nods, then hazards carefully, "I get the idea that it can be difficult to share your mind, your life so suddenly as well. Some bonds are less easy than others."

Lirienne grimances, then nods. "I hope not. I.. didn't sleep so well, afterwards. As for that.. I still don't know how to think about.. sharing my mind." A glance down at all the dishes has her shaking her head, then she moves to the other side. "I'll start putting things away," she offers, falling silent.

Not sure what else to say about that, given where they are in relation to the hatching - possibly - Brieli doesn't interrupt Lirienne's silence, merely scrubbing away meditatively until they're relieved.
