| Half of Elleth and Chelth's six eggs made it just over five sevendays before hatching in the early hours of D28 M5 T36. While this is normal for most clutches, the Benden dragonhealers had hoped for the eggs to sit longer, grow sturdier. Elleth's month vigil gave way to minor triumphs for Benden's first queen in nearly twenty turns, and her first golden child ever, and then grief for the three eggs that never were. They were spirited away by Benden riders and the subdued hatching party was shortlived when Cora and B'doran retired to their weyr. Benden's dragonhealers have released a preliminary report as to their findings to the Weyrleaders, who have not shared this report with anyone. There are, however (as always), rumors that some of the findings cited complacency in mates and the consequences of closed flights. How much of that is true, or even if the report has any scientific basis, is left for the rumor mill to churn. |
