The people of Nabol will be able to breathe a sigh of relief. They no longer need to fear the consequences of traveling on the roads, or fearing for their lives from a band of wayward rogues. | Nabol has been on high alert since the tithe from Keogh Hold was overtaken by the thieves, with both guards from the Hold proper and wings doubling up on sweeps from High Reaches. Everyone has been on edge and tensions have reached their peak. Near the end of month 9, several rumors (of origins unknown) start circulating that the miscreants intend to take the late summer tithes journeying to the Weyr, in the ultimate coup de grace. It is this that spurs locals to look amongst themselves for the culprits - with surprising results. On day 6, month 10, guards making rounds along a long pass are alerted to a strange caravan making their way through the low lying hills. Those suspicions are credited when it turns out to be the thieves, under cloak and disguise. A small skirmish follows, wherein a message is sent to the Weyr for backup, and a group of nearby riders - notably among them Alida, rider of blue Ilicaeth - were summoned to the scene to help apprehend the foes. No one is killed in the altercation, though many are injured, and at least eight of the rogues are captured and brought back to the Hold to be kept until such a time that Lady Tevrane seeks justice. The people of Nabol will be able to breathe a sigh of relief. They no longer need to fear the consequences of traveling on the roads, or fearing for their lives from a band of wayward rogues. Except rumors continue to circulate: surely, there were more than eight thieves this whole time, which begs the question of, where are the rest? What happened to the Keogh tithe? And what were the thieves' motivations for wreaking havoc across the Nabol region? |
