Timeline/I10.36.10.25
RL Date: 14 January, 2015
Who: Tevara, Miska, Madilla, Osvian
Involves: Healer Hall, High Reaches Weyr, Telgar Weyr
Type: Update
What: Healer Hall releases its verdict in the inquest into Teris's death.
Where: Healer Hall
When: Day 25, Month 10, Turn 36 (Interval 10)

It's been months, but Healer Hall has finally released its verdict.

The Masterhealer, in consultation with a randomly selected advisory panel, as well as the Craftsecond has determined the following:

  • Journeyman Miska will remain a lab instructor and practitioner at Healer Hall.
  • Journeyman Miska will be the first student in a training program designed to provide more understanding between healers and Weyr needs and teach the cultural differences prior to any postings.
  • Journeyman Miska will have a travel restriction placed on him until the training program is complete to the satisfaction of his advisory board.
  • Master Madilla will be appointed to head a new administrative committee that will research and reach out to all the Weyrs and design a training program for all apprentices and journeymen, whether they will be posted to a Weyr or not. All former healers, who now reside at Weyrs and/or are dragonriders, are requested to contact Master Madilla to offer different points of view.
  • Craftsecond Osvian will work with Master Madilla in adapting such programs to other Halls and Holds, as it is integral to our duties as healers to fully appreciate and be aware of the nuances of life, language, and culture that would make us more effective healers both of the physical and of the mental.

It is our hope that these measures will provide Pern with compassionate, understanding healers and regret that our introspection has only come from the pain caused to not one, but two separate Weyrs.

Thank you, for entrusting the care of your loved ones and yourselves to us.

~ Tevara ~

Shortly before the decisions are made public, two copies are hand-delivered by the Masterhealer. First to Telgar Weyr, where she spoke briefly with the Weyrleaders and then dropped in to visit Torani. Second, High Reaches Weyr to inform the Weyrleaders of the change in Madilla's rank and her duties and that the Hall would be paying her stipend while she continues to live at High Reaches Weyr.

Telgar Weyr has not reacted publicly thus far, but no news is possibly good news in these situations.
