| During the night he was there. And in the morning... he was gone. Even though they didn't talk much, he was still her father. So she did the responsible thing, making sure he ate, and drank the tea. That he would go to bed at a reasonable hour and that he took advantage of the availability of clothing, and the baths. And when he started to look feverish she made a point of telling the healers that he needed to be seen to. But Emme was busy, always too busy, to pay much attention when he was led out and brought to the infirmary. Until morning came and his pallet remained empty. Once worry sunk in to an unbearable level the little harper hunted down whatever healer would speak with her to find out what happened. And once told, the girl simply went stone-faced, and returned back to her billet. There's barely been a word from her since. But for all anyone knows it could just be that she too is feeling the effect of whatever illness it is that seems to have struck them so avidly. |
