| In the middle of winter, news of a camp outside Nabol begins to circulate throughout the Weyr, encouraged especially by Alpine wingleader Y'rel and some of his wingriders. Alpine is claiming to be the first to have spotted the arrival of tents on the hold's outskirts, attributing it to Rone's militia outgrowing his ability to house it. Alpine riders have now been tasked with extra sweeps to monitor progress as some more permanent structures are being set up, and Y'rel is becoming increasingly vocal about how now is the time to disband the lot of them, while they're disorganised and cold, before any real chaos can erupt. Many question the wisdom of the Weyr getting involved, especially in such an incontrovertible way, but Y'rel is finding some among those who support Ienavi (or at least peaceful means of determining succession) who are willing to hear him out. At any rate, if the camps last the winter, it seems unlikely that Rone will remain content to watch and wait come spring. |
