History

Adissa was raised at High Reaches Weyr, sans mother. Early on she was put in the care of one of the Weyr's fostermothers, but as far back as she can remember her father was in the picture. If he wasn't the most perfectly devoted daddy, at least he was present and she remembers her childhood fondly.

Serious and a little bit sickly as a young girl, she spent most of her time by herself with books and wrote often. It soon became clear in her dealings with the children her age that she wasn't the sort of girl you pushed around or else she'd kick you in the shin and run away.

As a young woman she became more aware of herself physically and realized that men responded to her dark features and secretive smile by telling her they would do things for her. As smart as she was, she slipped that little piece of knowledge up her sleeve to use when she needed to, but otherwise she depended on her status as a woman who never bothered anyone to keep her out of trouble. Until that is that her father's bronze Lycoth died.

Devastating as it was, Adissa rallied and became uncharacteristically outspoken on the matter of her father's life.

Adissa pleaded and petitioned for her father's return to the only other home he'd known, away from dragons and painful memories. Her efforts were noticed by the then-Lady Frieja, and Tisdan and his daughter found safe harbor at the Hold.

Now, six years later, she resides at the Hold and keeps her father close. She's spent those past six years caring for him and creating a small circle of protective connections, mostly her siblings. Coping with Hold-life after being raised at a Weyr has proven difficult. Even after all these years she finds her role in Hold society constricting and frustrating, but on the other hand High Reaches Weyr has taken such a turn since she lived there that oftentimes she wonders if maybe she is in the right place.

Being an illegitimate child holds no advantages. Adissa at least has become very aware since arriving at the Hold of her place in life not only as a woman but as a child born out of wedlock and into a bloodline that has no real roots. Still, she does what she can with what she has, though that holds little room for ambition.
