Stormy Summers Egg

The long stretch of silence between Teonath's low snarl and Sruth's equally contained echo, encouraging the sentiment rather than challenging it, match the preparation for first and second clutched eggs; wheaten hide ripples and muscles stretch, instinct playing its due part as the parents promptly tend to the now-revealed cloud shrouded egg -- the gold creating a cage of ivory talons around it to scoot sand closer and then relinquishing care to her mate as she moves to a patch of vast sand to rest.

A foggy cloak of blue haze envelops this egg, blanketing bottom to top in a thick, heavy dew. Sunlit shades of green peek through the mist in crinkled bunches, the colors fading together with a soft glow near each adjustment, watercolor paints swirling in a mostly-clear mixture. Darker navy pools near the egg's base and stretches across the shell in oblong circles, littered with bits of brownish yellow and the occasional fleck of silver.

The stormy summers egg's wobbling ceases suddenly as scraping and scrabbling from within herald the appearance of lightning white striations across its foggy blue surface. A bronze muzzle bursts through the egg's apex a moment later, followed by its goo-slick head and sinuous neck, all of which execute a wary three sixty before the creature retreats inside, wide-eyed, for one last effort at escape. Within a matter of seconds, the egg has sprouted feet, a muzzle, and a tail trying very hard to trail behind it in dignified fashion.

Rough Around the Edges Bronze

There is no escaping it, the first thing anyone is apt to notice about this bronze, other than perhaps his color, is that long, distinctively pointed snout of his. Not to mention a set of especially prominent, front-top fangs. Hide of dusky amber, darkens markedly over the tip of his muzzle and in the hollows along the angular plains of his face, just as it does along paws tipped in talons of onyx. Large eyes are placed close together to contrast the wide-set of pearlized headknobs and rich shades of a shimmering cinnamon stretch over whipcord and sinew, just as it does across the delicate sails making up the expanse of narrow wings. Tones of dark russet trace the line of smooth, but raked-back neck ridges, before lightening at the pale tip of his long, flexible tail. Small for his color, his frame is thin, rangy, narrower at the fore than the aft, possessing strong hindquarters to propel him quickly aloft when the time comes.

Temperament

You might not expect such a clever, dexterous dragon to be so, well, accident prone. But it's not so much his fault. He's an opportunistic, observant and resourceful individual at the best of times, but like with a gambler rolling the die: Not all times are the best of times. The problems come from the less obvious sources, sometimes just as simple as his being in the absolutely worst place at the worst time. Other times it's the combination of natural ability hindered by those pesky, greedy base desires; a beautiful, proddy green/queen or a fat, very tasty looking buck in the herd. His reactions to these unfortunate situations vary. A mixing pot of; 'It's not fair!' and 'Hey! I'm walking here!' with any number of smart-alec responses. What ever the case, he doesn't cling to any extra baggage, 'easy come easy go' might well be his motto, if the truth wasn't more along the lines of -- he's just already moved on to bigger and better things.

A trickster himself, he's not as easily fooled. He tends to see through con, for what it is, and being generally suspicious of any unusual activities aids him in this. Of course, if he says anything, might depend on what's in it for him. These traits could cause more than a little trouble, if it wasn't for the fact that he is very loyal to those that matter to him, starting with you. You and his friends might be fair game for his pranks and jokes, but woe to any that would do them harm. Vildaeth'll go through anything to save those he chooses to look after, and never lose his cool while doing so.

Weyrlinghood won't be managed without a fair share of mishaps. Never anything too serious, but he was so busy thinking about dinner, it's not -really- his fault he spilled the oil. Is it? And he so wasn't to blame for his tail getting too close to where Chakieth was practicing flaming. Despite this, he's a quick learner in most things. He picks up on what he should do, with little trouble. But curse that draconic short memory that makes many repetitions so necessary.

When it comes time to wow the 'ladies', be they green or gold, Vildaeth isn't above showing off what he considers his best assets. Alright, so his appearance might not top the charts, but he's more agile than the larger dragons; even those of the same color. He's also daring enough to try maneuvers others might not. And if they don't work so well? There are always other ways... /ways/ to out think his competition for *her* attention. He's not really the type to settle on any one green/gold, however. That would be too limiting for his tastes.

And speaking of tastes, your bronze has an odd taste for some of the more base pleasures in life: Food. While it's few and far between, due to the mishaps of the day that inadvertently pop up, he has a definitive taste for the spice for life and will do anything to achieve it, whether it be encouragement for you to utilize those culinary gifts of yours, or doing some sneaky tactic to ensure that _that_, whatever that is, is his.

Public Impression Message

The slink of the Rough Around the Edges Bronze carries him from his last pit stop to his next, large eyes cocked and wide-set to catch a stray movement, a lurking motion out of the corner of jeweled facets. And as the orange of despaired hunger is just about to take over the entirety of his prominent muzzle, a flicker of joyous blue whirls through and with a sly turn of his clever neck, he spies out olive-skinned boy with the dirty blonde hair, and makes his presence known in one single, unthinking, leap to find himself at this candidate's feet.

Private Impression Message

It begins with a slow trickling of awareness through your mind -- a slinking, silent presence that insinuates itself into your consciousness with steady, methodical purpose. A hush falls across the sands, though there is a sense that this feeling is solely yours; in fact, there is a distinct twinge of smug pride in response to your realization of this. « C'len! » The voice is a parody of your own, alive with mischief, ideas, and adoration. « You are /so/ clever! I bet you knew I was coming, didn't you? I bet you did! Boy, oh boy! We are going to have So. Much. Fun. together! » There is a rush of joyous understanding, an ecstatic surge of completion that envelopes you wholly, carrying you far away from the here and now, to a place with only you and Vildaeth -- yes, that's the name, isn't it? « So clever », you sense, that you knew instinctively. « So... » A wistful note enters that presence in your mind, wheedling and overly sweet, « Got anything to eat around here? »

Mindvoice

'Street smarts,' the nasal arrogance of just knowing how to get himself around colors Vildaeth's mind in sheets of lurid colors, bright and noticeable. Cayenne scatters itself through his mind, flecks of red that glitter in each thought crackling with low-simmered life. His vibrancy is magnified in the sharp images he's able to produce, every shift perfect, every detail there for a reason, almost shifty in an undercurrent of sensation. He carries himself without that sultry rich basso of many of his peers, and instead favors a higher range tenor that never seems to age with time. Prone to speech more than the silent communicative wash of feelings, the oddities of his voice will be heard quite frequently, though for you, and only you, there's sometimes that curbed sensation of affection.

Dragon Inspirations

Rizzo the Rat from The Muppets -- Who is performed by Steve Whitmire and was named by Frank Oz after Dustin Hoffman's character Rico "Ratso" Rizzo (or Enrico Salvatore Rizzo) in the 1969 film 'Midnight Cowboy'. Rizzo has had appearances in: The Great Muppet Caper, The Muppet Show, The Muppets Take Manhattan, Muppets Tonight, Muppet Christmas Carol, Muppet Treasure Island, Muppet Classic Theater and Muppets From Space.

There's just the smallest dash of the Swedish Chef in him. The tiniest sliver.
