Tangible Shadows Egg

Deep, mottled purples cover the shell of this egg like a fresh bruise, swirling and blending each into the other to create a miasma of ill-intent. Great swathes of pitch blackness would be all but lost upon this backdrop were it not for the contrast of solid lines and sharp angles. Crooked claws, gaping grins, slanted, wicked eyes -- straight out of nightmare they've leapt. Like shadows cast and caught within the glare of a bright light, these hunching, hulking ebony figures are forever frozen in a macabre march.

Tangible Shadows Egg gives one violent rock and a jagged crack appears down its center. Pieces of mottled purple shell explode off in every direction, kicked apart by ambitious, powerful legs until all that's left is a bronze hatchling sprawled on his back in egg goop. Scrambling to his feet, he ignores the fragments of shell sticking to his body, his predatory glare locked on the line of white robes.

Stiff Upper Lip Bronze Hatchling

The promise of enormous power is born beneath unpolished brass, muscle built into every inch of this young bronze. For now, his head is a bit too big for his neck and paws too big for his body but there is solid weight to his frame that hints of grandeur. Even in youth, his hindquarters are full of meaty strength, vigor flexed in every fiber beneath the dark cover of shadowy wings. Pronounced eyeridges give a severity to his dauntless gaze glaring out from the dark pits of an angular head so that even the happy green tones of contentment are tainted with an obstinate edge.

Temperament

Sidjith is a survivor. In a new, wild world, he will pave his own path, one way or another, and it is your duty to keep him on the right path. He isn't a delicate, easy creature; he is a beast with claws and teeth and wings, and he is entirely aware of the power he possesses. He is as masculine and carnal as they come: arrogant, aggressive, domineering. He is rough and gruff, tactless, insensitive, impatient to a fault, and never balks at the opportunity to say what he thinks needs to be said. But for every crass, undiplomatic fiber in him, he will have brief moments of unusual compassion and will risk anything for a cause that he decides to put himself behind. It's these moments of heroism and greatness that will win him over to others despite his brutish behaviour. But you will be privy to his true motives, you will know of his wild nature. Only you will know what secrets live in the darkest shadows of his mind. And only you will keep him righteous.

Weyrlinghood will be difficult for you. Sidjith will spend much of his youth absorbing information - information about his clutchmates, about the Weyrlingmasters, the dragons of the Weyr, the world beyond. He's a calculating, opportunistic creature, and to Sidjith, the world is new and unknown, strange and unconquered - correction: waiting to be conquered! Knowledge is power and Sidjith is hungry for it, and that will mean early mornings and late evenings for you. You had better keep up with him or you might lose grip on his leash.

Territory is a big thing to Sidjith. He will need to explore, and roam, and push his boundaries. He will defend what is his with a tenacious spirit, and what is 'his' will be anything he can claim as his. It will start out innocently enough, turning your boots into his latest chew-toy. Next, he might try to claim his clutchmate's couch as his own. Eventually, he might go for an entire wagon if he can, and his favourite saying will quickly become « Finders keepers, losers weepers ». Life is about winning and surviving and thriving, and he will believe he knows better than anyone else - even you.

Sidjith does not take failure lightly. He will be hard on himself, hard on you, and hard on his clutchmates. This won't change as he gets older, and may cause some strife within his wing if you don't get a handle on his aggressive, competitive nature. Sidjith will only become more sure of himself, his abilities, and his purpose as he gets older; he will become more brazen and outspoken. If you aren't careful, he could easily develop a bad name for himself (and you). But that is what makes you such a perfect contrast to your gruff Sidjith, and hopefully your charm will soften his hard edges because Faranth does he have a lot of them!

It shouldn't need to be said that flights will be Sidjith's favourite sport, and he will want to participate in flights from an early age. Why? Not because he's a hopeless romantic. He'll be in it to win it. Flights are the perfect stage to compete against his fellow males, and he will put all of himself into every flight to the point of injury if you aren't careful. Chasing will be his chance to measure himself against all others, and he will either come away from it confident in his agility in the skies or demanding more from himself (and you) during drills. Better hope he wins often or you won't have much time to do some chasing of your own.

Regardless of your Sidjith's tough and tumble surface, he will always have the best intentions for you and for him. You are the only light in this dark world, and the anchor that steadies him. You guide his compass and keep the beast within him tamed, and he will take you as far as you are willing to go up the ladder of success. Shrug off your duty to him and you will see what dark creature he could so easily become.

Public Impression Message

Predatory gaze turns into predatory strides, and Stiff Upper Lip Bronze Hatchling stalks for one boy in the line of Candidates, his shadowed eyes glaring dauntlessly at his target. There is no hesitation as his big head thrusts forward, intent on shoving Rildan to claim the foreign Candidate as his own.

Private Impression Message

The raucous sounds of the Galleries are gently muted, and the world dims but for a moment beneath the shadow of something big and looming. A blink later and the shadow is gone, but it leaves behind the weight of something cool and /alive/, spreading through your veins and exploring the confinements of your skin like sliding into a tight glove. The world fades gently again, speckled with faint stars that call a gentle, cool breeze against the back of your neck, but somewhere in the distance the shadow lurks. And the darkness calls himself « Sidjith ».

Mindvoice

Sidjith is the deep dark of night. He is calm and cool, a refreshing reprieve from a hot summer's day, a quiet place in your mind to retreat from the hustle and bustle of a busy Weyr. He is the dazzling twinkle of a million stars glittering overhead. But who has never feared the dark at least once? Sidjith's darkness can be a place of serenity and comfort, but the night can be a scary place full of shadows and strange sounds that toy with the senses.

Dragon Inspirations

A lot of Sidjith's character comes from Commander Nathaniel Taylor from Terra Nova. Commander Taylor is a complicated guy and, like Sidjith, he often holds his cards close. There is the potential for more sinister things from Sidjith. He is yours to mold for better or worse, and I hope you enjoy him.

Egg Inspiration: Dr. Facilier, the main villain of Disney's The Princess and the Frog. When he needs to cast a voodoo spell, he calls upon his 'friends,' dark spirits who manifest as shadows.

Name Meaning

Sidjith is a very convoluted combination of the Turkish word 'siddetli', meaning 'strong', and Gojira, a French metal band. I would say metal is pretty violent, and Gojira happens to be a particularly heavy, methodical style of music that fit well with Sidjith's character. Coincidentally, 'Gojira' happens to also be the Japanese word for 'Godzilla'.
