Golden Stargazer Egg
On a sandy hillock high above the rest of the mound, an enormous egg rests in a place of honor within a protective shallow depression. Undoubtedly the largest in the clutch, its color is the warm golden yellow of sunlight, or the shade of the little sungazer flowers that grow mostly underground, showing just the bloom in the grass. Darker streaks appear to travel its length in a meandering course. Is that the shadow of the young queen showing through? It is impossible to tell from this distance. More likely it is just a deep bronze swirl coloring the egg.
Shards are thrown across the mound as the youngest High Reaches Queen bursts from her shell, longing to be free of the place that has nurtured and protected her all these months. The dark gold struggles to her feet in an ungainly manner, and spreads her wings for the first time.
Capricious Polished Oak Gold Jenryth
A glance at this dragonet causes a double-take: her glistening hide seems to absorb almost all light and appears initially to be the color of polished oak. Soon, however, the movement of still underdeveloped but sleek muscles and the curve of bone under skin show her metallic undertones and reveal her true, deep, dark golden color. As she lifts her wings with a feminine grace, the lighter shade of her wingsails and the underside of her chest and belly fairly glow in contrast to the evening colors of the rest of her. With a clever set to her head, and a jaunty stance, a sense of capricious folly can be felt within her, just below the surface of her newfound curiosity in being alive and unfettered by restraints.
Public Impression Message
Capricious Polished Oak Gold Dragonet cocks her head at her golden mother, and then turns her snout back to the group of girls. A step forward, then two, then hesitation. Suddenly, she looks slightly to the side of the group, at a young girl who doesn't even seem to be noticing her. With a reacquired sense of confidence, she no longer waits, and moves closer. Right in front of the girl, in fact. Impatiently, the little queen bumps her head against Matheny's leg.
