The letter arrives in the first month of the new turn, a few months after the laundress sent off hers.

It bears her uncle's seal, which is confusing in and of itself, but the contents within are what cause Farideh's smooth brow to pucker with worry.

In formal script, deep and broad strokes:

What a treat it was to receive a letter from you. You need not worry about us-- Igen's leprosy scare was just that, Igen's leprosy scare. We have not seen a single leper this entire time. They have contained the imminent threat. All is well within our boundaries.

I hear you have found yourself a new hobby at High Reaches Weyr. It is a lovely charity you do for them. No one would have thought you had such a bleeding heart, my dearest sister.

I am told to relay the good news to you. We have sent your portrait and letters to Benden for consideration. Lady Farideh has a nice ring to it, no? Your mother is beside herself with the possibilities. We await word of their choice.
