An End To The Raiders
RL Date: 12 June, 2009
Who: A'son, Leova, Rajiv, Tiriana
Involves: High Reaches Weyr
Type: Update
What: The raiders are caught.
When: Day 1, Month 13, Turn 19 (Interval 10)

It's been months now since the raids first started, while signs and rumors of much of what is going on have floated around the Weyr. Some raider kid was captured; a holder was taken in return. They were exchanged. That A'son and Leova and a handful of other riders have sure been gone a lot lately...

Finally, it all came to a head in one fell swoop: shortly after breakfast on day 1, month 13, news started coming in that the Weyr had raided the raiders back, sending a strike force to take down their hidey-hole in the pre-dawn hours. Led by A'son, with Leova and other riders at his side, the attack was highly successful--even with the bloodthirsty Weyrwoman herself unexpectedly showing up to take part in the raid.

In the aftermath, there were a number of injuries, though most of them are relatively minor and concentrated on the unsuspecting raiders' side of affairs. A number of bad guys were captured and are now being held on separate high ledges at the Weyr pending trial. Included in the captives is the ringleader of the operation: one Rajiv, head trader of the Weyr's old friends the Vijays. Upon capture, Rajiv was quite happy to spill his guts in a spiteful rant about how the Weyr's just kept going downhill, from criminals to kiddies.

The only question left now? What to do with them all. The injured parties--the Weyr and the Holds--immediately entered into negotiations about who gets to try the criminals. Within a day or so, though, that question's settled: the Weyr's keeping their prisoners, and will try them all for their crimes, God help their souls.
