Pia talks even in her dreams.

It amuses Luishaeth, who regards her sleeping lifemate through the darkness of the dim barracks, studying those arms and legs flung akimbo, that mouth that smiles even now.

She's a curious thing, this person she's found. Luishaeth no longer remembers being without her; no longer remembers what it was that drew her to her, what it was that made Pia glow like a beacon.

They fit, though. Luishaeth can feel that bond, lurking, always, in her thoughts. Pia shines; she glows. She spreads her light through Luishaeth's darkness and illuminates all the dark corners, and Luishaeth? She builds more.

But she's attracted to that glow, like a moth to a flame. Pia is all the things she, Luishaeth, is not. She admires her.

She'll never tell.
