Weyrling Barracks, High Reaches Weyr(#395RAJs) Tucked off the back of the training room, the barracks are a huge, high cavern that stretches far back into the stone of the Weyr. Both of the longer walls are lined with couches for the dragons, enough for a couple of Pass-sized clutches at once, each matched with a cot and press for the weyrling dragonrider. In this day and age, however, the couches in the back have been allowed to grow dusty with long disuse. Hearths are spaced between every few couches to heat the big room.

For decoration, there are a number of tapestries on the walls, looking almost as beat-up as the couches out in the training room, but scattered flower pots with their bright blooming contents provide a cheery touch. Additionally, some of the couches have had graffiti scratched into them over the Turns that were never quite cleaned off: smears of chalk messages or even rough pictures, some not fit for young eyes. In many cases names and dates have been painstakingly carved into the rock, a record of those that once made their home here.

The fourth month of training well underway and the barracks is about as sparsely populated as can be expected on such a warm afternoon. One weyrling pair in particular seems to be stealing an unlikely nap while the room is quite, at least the blue is napping and the rider is bent over her desk studying intently a set of notes in her own untidy scrawl. "Formation one, opposing V shapes. Formation two is a straight line. Formation three, three rows." Ghena mutters to herself scratching at her knot as though it might be a painful rash, new thread and all. Then again it's probably more mind than matter.

L'sha returns to the barracks, apparently after more flying practice. Rillaeth follows him, looking about as smug as a dragon can look. She curls up on her couch as they arrive at their quarters, and L'sha rewards her with a tender eyeridge scritch. "You did so well today, love! Didn't have to rein you in once!" He straightens and waves cheerily as he sees Ghena, stepping toward her bunk to see what she's studying. "Mmm, formations, fun stuff. And congratulations on getting your thread! I'm so happy for you!"

Knioth opens one eye and spotting the green pair he offers a low sleepy warble of greeting. Ghena offers a half-hearted smile, "Yeah, I was all about the responsibility and extra work, and -" she drops the farce. "Nope, can't do it, can't even begin to pretend to be happy about it. I wish I knew what they were thinking to be honest L'sha." She looks to the green, "Didn't have to reign her in? Been having trouble?" Concerned.

L'sha's face mirrors Ghena's concern. "Aww, poor thing. Is it that much extra work? Well, I know you can handle it, otherwise they wouldn't have picked you, right?" He smirks over at the green curled up by his cot. "Well, you know her, she just has to be the fastest. Quinlys yelled at me the other day because she was flying way too fast and could've hurt herself. I tried my hardest to get her to slow down, but she's so competitive." His voice drops to a whisper, "So I told her to slow down so everyone could see how pretty she is." Louder, he continues, "After that, she went around nice and slow." Rillaeth returns Knioth's warble and looks over at her rider. « I am the fastest. »

Surprise colors her expression if L'sha and Knioth think that Ghena can do it they must be the only two, maybe whatever devil put the thread on her cot as well. Three. There's a smirk, "I'm amazed that she and Knioth both haven pulled a tendon as devilish as they are about being the best. Maybe we can talk to Quinlys about a race, give them a structured place to vent the competitive spirit?" There's a smirk for Rillaeth's prettiness and a rumble of agreement from Knioth. « Fair lady thou art fast, but I imagine I could catch you. »

L'sha cranes his neck a bit to glance at the thread in her knot, then gives a slight, involuntary shudder. "Wish they could've chosen a different color. Looks far too much like real Thread for comfort. Not that I've ever seen real Thread." He grins at the thought of Rillaeth racing. "Well, not anytime soon, they're not ready for anything like that yet. No matter what certain green dragons think." He eyes his lifemate. Rillaeth snorts, then turns her head slooowly to glare at Knioth. « Yeah. Right. » L'sha suddenly pulls up a chair and sits next to Ghena, resting his elbow on the table and his chin on his knuckles. Time for some girl talk! "So. Now that they've allowed kissing, what do you think? Any likely targets?" A mischievous grin spreads across his face.

« Count on it Lady, I can keep up with thee. » A draconic smirk. Ghena shrugs, "Likely targets, Well considering one of them is my brother I think we can safely rule G'laer out. He is so dour it take a miracle for him to form an attachment I think. Nita is attractive enough I suppose, A'rist just doesn't do it for me and Rh'mis - well he looks too much like a lost canine pup." She shrugs, "Who looks kissable in your mind?" She counters curious. "Any suggestions?" Not that she is likely to go sprinting off on them anytime soon.

L'sha says, "Oh, well, G'laer's out, of course. A'rist's kinda cute, but Rh'mis is a bit young for me. He hates being called Rh'mis for some reason, just wants to be called Rhey. Ooh, Nita, really? Interesting! P'kavi's not bad looking, and he has a thread, too. Now L'sen..." A dreamy look crosses L'sha's eyes. "He's cute and funny, and I think he's doing pretty good as the wingleader. And he has gorgeous eyes..." He sighs and trails off, eyes gazing off into the distance. Rillaeth snorts at Knioth. « Keep dreaming, buddy. »"

Ghena laughs. "Never considered P'kavi, Your pretty cute yourself, so I would say you have a pretty good shot at him. 'Specially once she starts rising." « Dreaming has naught to do with it, I can out pace thee mark me well. » the blue trumpets and spreads his wings to their full impressive length, sending ghena's notes scattering. "I wish you the best of luck with it, not sure I will have time for that sort of thing - Knoith, tuck it in. You just got my notes out of order - again."

L'sha snaps out of it and grins at Ghena. "Oh, why thank you! I'm flattered. I don't know if a bronze would be able to catch her, to tell the truth. Whoops!" He stands and tries to catch the flying hides. "That's too bad. I guess you're right, you might not have time to be social with all the extra work." Rillaeth bugles in return to Knioth's challenge, but she's too tired to spread her wings. « Uh-uh. Never gonna happen. »

In his mind anyway, Knioth has already won. « So you say beauteous one, so you say. » Ghena rolls her eyes at the blue and the hides between her and L'sha are mostly recovered. "I suppose a little bit of socializin' wouldn't hurt me too much, As long as it's not serious. A bronze might catch her, if they go for outsmarting her rather than speed, but I'd put good marks on it Knioth will chase her first flight and probably win, provided there aren't more experienced speedsters there.

L'sha arches an eyebrow and smirks at Ghena. "Pretty confident there, aren'tcha? I don't know, a bronze'd have to be awfully smart and quick. I think blue, most likely, or maybe brown." Something suddenly dawns on him. "Shells, what if I wind up in bed with a girl? I'd barely know what to do." He makes a face, furrowing his brows and puffing out his cheeks. Rillaeth lifts her head proudly. « That's right, I do say so. »

Ghena can't help but laugh. "L'sha it will be fine, Rillaeth will do most of the work - from what I've heard most riders don't really even remember that part. Kissing a boy is exactly the same as kissing a girl, as for the rest well, it's not really all that different from a guy. You just have slightly more options and less equipment to worry about." Blunt. Hey older sisters teach you these things.

L'sha snerks at Ghena. "Okay, well, I'm not totally clueless, you know. And I like the extra equipment. Oh well. Anyway, I've distracted you enough for one night, young lady." His face becomes stern and he claps his hands twice in rapid succession. "Back to your studies! Work! Work!" He breaks into a grin and stands. "I'm going to the caverns for a bite to eat, want me to get you anything?" Rillaeth's second pair of eyelids begin to droop down as she curls up again.

Ghena grins. "I'll come with if you don't mind, we can scope the cute guys and gals." Well Girls more for Ghena than L'sha. She tidies up the desk and Knioth curls back up to sleep. "I could use the break from studying."
