In the end, on top of everything else the Weyr’s been through, some might find it difficult to stomach a complete unknown in charge, even if he was a wingleader at that other Weyr… though others might murmur that it’s good riddance, as T’rev never seemed to really want the job anyway. At least there’s a clutching to look forward to, around the middle of month 3, leading to a hatching in month 4. And hatchings bring parties, right?

Peirith Rises, New Weyrleader Steps Up
RL Date: 13 June, 2010
Who: Cirse, T'kyn
Involves: Fort Weyr
Type: Update
What: Cirse's Peirith rises in her third leadership flight and is caught by T'kyn's Dargonath.
When: Day 7, Month 13, Turn 22 (Interval 10)
Mentions: Rivellan/Mentions, Esraval/Mentions, T'rev/Mentions

Around midday on day 7 of month 13, turn 22, Peirith surprised the Weyr by lifting off into the steadily falling snow to pilot the Weyr's bronzes and a few outWeyr visitors in a turbulent, unexpectedly early (and inevitably demanding) flight. Though known to be in the initial stage of proddiness, based on her previous cycles, the senior queen had been predicted to have at least a day or two left before she rose... long enough, surely, that T'rev could safely take some downtime at Nerat to celebrate his daughter's birthday. But though Mecaith did reappear to join the pursuit, between the weather, his late start and whatever else may have been in the air, he fell short of winning Peirith again.

Who did? T'kyn's Dargonath, continuing a perplexing tradition of Telgar-clutched bronzes winning Fortian leadership flights... which means that just a few weeks before Turnover and just days after the upsets of Rivellan's execution and the removal of Lord Esraval from Fort Hold, the Weyr also has a new Weyrleader.

In the end, on top of everything else the Weyr's been through, some might find it difficult to stomach a complete unknown in charge, even if he was a wingleader at that other Weyr... though others might murmur that it's good riddance, as T'rev never seemed to really want the job anyway. At least there's a clutching to look forward to, around the middle of month 3, leading to a hatching in month 4. And hatchings bring parties, right?
