"Regular cookies. Simple. Simple is good." K'zin nods slowly, definitely taking her suggestion in. Another yawn has him rising to his feet. "I'm afraid my brain's no good for obscure right now. Try me again in the morning?" His expression is apologetic for not taking her meaning about an old friend. "If I can sort out a time I'm available, I will. I could bring them to one of the lessons she's been giving me every couple sevendays about her paperwork." He's likely not on the books for that. "I've got to get back to the barracks before I can't move anymore." He plucks up his plate and mug. "Nice seeing you, Hana. Will hope to again soon." It's a hurried but polite enough farewell before he heads off.

Nighthearth, High Reaches Weyr

With its entrance located between the kitchen and the living cavern, this tiny bubble cavern is cozy, always kept warm and is filled with comfortable chairs and a small round table. At the far end, there's a hearth, outlined in ruddy, aging bricks, where a pot of stew simmers in the evening hours. Generally quiet, the nighthearth is the haunt of insomniacs and those seeking quiet from the bustle of daily Weyr life.

The Nighthearth offers a nice change of scenery for those whose lives are currently lived in and around the weyrling barracks. It's late enough in the day that most weyrlings have eaten and have headed back towards the barracks to get ready for what's sure to be another busy, demanding day tomorrow. K'zin, however, has lingered. After getting clean, he's plopped into one of the more comfortable seats, snuggling into the cushions, head lolling against the armrest. He looks like a man-shaped puddle of tired weyrling. Resting on one knee with hand curled about the handle is a half-empty mug of klah and the other side of his lap holds a crumb-dusted plate that must have once been full from the vittles offered here at all hours.

And for those who rarely have the time to sit, the Nighthearth offers the perfect time and place to work on a quiet project - or two. Hana sweeps in, light summer dress dancing around her ankles and hair let down in a simple braid. Over one arm is a basket filled with a cream-coloured linen and small windings of color. Heading towards one of the chairs with decent lighting, her step checks for a moment - that puddle is noticed - before returning, nothing said to the tired one. It is, however, the work of a moment to get the chair turned slightly, for even better light - and then to get a mug of cooled liquid.

The brown gaze that had been staring at nothing catches the movement and tracks it. K'zin watches Hana without turning his head until she leaves his field of vision, and then once more when she moves back into it and drops into a seat that happens to be more or less across from where he is. "Hey Hana," There's a small smile for the Holder woman. "Zay said you'd decided to stay since hatching." He shifts, moving plate and mug to a table beside the chair in order to streeeetch arms and legs simultaneously in an attempt to wake up his limbs. "She must be keeping you busy, I haven't seen you around." It couldn't possibly be that the Weyrlingmasters and new dragons have been keeping him busy. No, no.

Hana glances up, then offers a smile, "K'zin - and I imagine it is something like that. She is, after all, a very busy person to keep up with." There is a pause, while she pulls out the piece of linen - a rather large pice, as only one corner ends up free, the rest folded up in her lap, where a bit of embroidery has been started. "But speaking of not seeing you lately, how are /you/? And... Rasavyth, correct? is doing well too?"

"Yeah. She's always going here or there, doing this paperwork or that one." K'zin yawns and gives one more little stretch. "Are you finding it very different from your previous job? Minus the baby care stuff." He reaches for his klah mug now, sitting forward on his chair, elbows going to his knees. "I'm tired." As if it weren't obvious. "But very well, thank you. Rasavyth, yes. He's doing well also. Finally catching his own food, which is quite a relief."

"Not too much so. A little more on the making sure food is available," because a certain someone forgets to eat, "and that meetings are reminded of, but the lack of baby care is actually rather relaxing," Hana admits with a faint grin as she starts to move the tiny needle through the fabric. "Ah.. yes - I am sure that helps. There is no doubt about the tired, though - your lot seems to be almost always moving about." A gaze is cast on the lounging one, as she grins slightly, before going on. "And I've noticed that many of the young dragons seem to enjoy the lake?"

"Oh? Does she not-- eat?" His curiosity is mixed with mild concern. "Say, if I wanted to arrange a surprise for the Weyrwoman... might you help me with getting it to her?" K'zin's interest in the answer to the question has him leaning forward a little more. There's a chuckle for her words about the baby. "Yeah, after a baby, a weyrwoman and her dragon seem like a piece of cake. Do you get to visit home much?" The question is delivered casually, and he chooses that moment to sip on his klah. "The dragons do like the lake. They don't feel the cold the same way we do, which-- well, sort of stinks for those of us who have to go into the lake after them. It's not as bad now, but it was freezing before." Literally. "Now, a lot of them are enjoying flying. They're free to fly around the bowl. It's pretty neat to watch if you have a few minutes. They're bigger than firelizards by far, but not as big as grown dragons. From a perspective position. It's-- neat." He distracts himself with that talk, reaching for his pocket, the mug going to the table once more. He pulls out a hand-sized notebook and writing stick to scribble something on one of the pages.

Hana chuckles, "I shall have to make time to watch the flying, for I haven't seen it yet. And... more she forgets to - and... I could probably be persuaded. As long as it wasn't an unpleasant surprise." There is a pause, then she glances over. "Actually, if anyone is having trouble with eating.. Have you noticed?" The needle pauses a moment while her attention is other than down at it, even as she avoids talking about 'home'.

"Do." K'zin advises emphatically on the matter of flying, flipping his little book closed and pocketing it once more. He twiddles with the writing stick as he contemplates. "It definitely would be pleasant. Or an attempt at pleasant. I've been putting my feet in my mouth a lot around her and want to do something nice for her. Only... I don't know what to do." He chews on his lower lip. "I already made her something at the forge. I could make her something else, but it's not as novel now, wouldn't you say?" Why try to riddle out what women want on his own when Hana's right here to help! "Maybe I could get the bakers to make her some cookies that say 'eat me'?" Then his brow furrows to consider her question. "I haven't noticed anyone especially having trouble eating..." Something about the way she says it though, prompts him to ask: "Should I have noticed someone having trouble eating?"

Hana hms, then shakes her head. "Although, if you wanted to set up a time for tea, and just brought cookies - regular ones - it might go over well?" she offers instead of the inviting pastries he was suggesting. There is a pause, as she shakes out her linen, then refolds it the way it was originally when she pulled it out - just to put it back in the basket, needle carefully pinned. "I might suggest a breakfast or two with an old friend. It's the best way to catch up, after all." She won't come out and say it, even as she gets to her feet. There is a smile though, "But about that tea - if you know ahead of time when you have some time free, I can possibly pin her down for you. If, of course, duties permit you that freedom, and hers as well."

*eyes Hana* Puppetmaster. Or would-be puppetmaster, if your puppets weren't so tired and could understand clues. XD

Poor exhausted K'zin. <3
