In the end, she didn't know what to make of it. Relieved? Maybe. Mostly though, the whole ordeal felt the way it had when she was little and begged her father to teach her chess. She was given attention for a few moments, but ultimately dismissed without a further thought her requests unheeded.

She had walked into Lady Tevrane's formal audience with all the knowledge, evidence, and charm she could muster. Had done the "right thing". In the end though... like so many other things, it simply didn't matter. She was powerless and without influence.

Yet again.

Oh well. Cron would fuck up eventually. Maybe it would take turns, maybe for a while someone else would pick up the slack for him. It didn't matter, it was only a matter of time.

And, when it happened maybe they would remember.

She would remember.

And she would laugh at them all for it.
