| It'll be okay, E'sren thought while they all geared up in the bowl. He looked over at Sabella, watched her secure the straps around Ghislaith's lithe form, his brow a mess of worry lines. It'll be okay. It. They. Everything. Ever since the awkwardness in the baths he'd been trying to think about how to approach her about it. And in overthinking and not doing, the tension between them grew, or so he felt, because he couldn't talk to her like normal. He was too preoccupied trying not to say something stupid, but still talk to her, and he wasn't talking to her about the things that were troubling him like he usually did because the thing that was troubling him was how he couldn't talk to her. Ahruth ducked his head to whuffle, blowing his warm dragon-breath down into his rider's face whether he liked it or not. It'll be okay. Moments later 'it' all pretty much went to shit. They were still on the ground when Ghislaith rose up, so E'sren could only watch as Sabella lurched and fell; as her green tried to right herself and failed; as they hung in the air for that one, terribly long moment while Ahruth tried again and again to get off the ground, to leap into the sky to help them and ultimately failed because he just wasn't strong enough and his own hurry had thwarted him. And then as Sabella made the only choice she could think to make that would save at least one of them. He was already running, running without thinking or caring who was in his way, screaming her name. He wasn't the first one there. Hands were pushing him, stopping him, he vaguely remembered Quinlys telling him to stay back; they couldn't move him, he was too rooted in place, staring down at Sabella's prone form while she sobbed and cried and they tended to her.
